Why not just divide by 10 when numbers get too big?

>> No.9674692

Because of the lagged effect within other sets of the economy such as wages

can't inflation be 100% avoided with heavy price control (by a planned economy)

It is because o ...

You want a steady 2% inflation to avoid deflation. Because if there is deflation your money will become worth more over time, which makes people save and not spend their money in term fucking up the whole system. Less money spend = less sold = less money for producers = less produced = jobs cut = more welfare and less money in the system to spend etc etc etc.

>> No.9675170

>>9675152
true
you also want to avoid too much inflation because rising interest rates would also lead to less borrowing and spending

2% seems to be a number that works well for developed countries

>> No.9675411

infation is the result of capitalistic greed
if producers were content with increasing their sales and didn't vainly increase prices to squeeze out every last penny, high inflation rates wouldn't plague societies

>> No.9675436

>>9675152

>fucking up the whole system

Retarded. It reduces degenerate consumerism by making people pay for what they NEED not what they want. Deflationary currencies literally solve climate issues and resource deprivation. A society where people make less but also spend less is one with less consumerism in total.

The Weimar republic printed loads of money so young people thought saving was pointless so became nihilistic consumers, the system doesn't work. Look at the existential dread most people feel when they see how expensive things get. Inflation keeps the housing bubble propped up as well, making you a permanent consumerist slave 'renting' life.

>> No.9675471

the system works only for the money masters and those connected. the reason why 2% is built into the system that works very well for the above is because without that 2% inflation they would not receive the interest on the money they create out of thin air.

>> No.9675484

>>9674675
That's what they already do. One yen used to be one dollar, for example. but now it's worth about 1 cent, so now they use it as a cent.

>> No.9675500

inflation is nothing but an additional tax on savings

Youre miubderstanding deflationary cyrrencies.
You make less nominally but the purchasing power of you money on a unit for unit basis actually increases with deflationery enviroments.
Provided if course that economic production stays the same or increases.

We did, that's why we created bitcoin and crypto as a whole you dumb fuck. Have you noticed the difference the hard right and hard left takes to things they dislike about society? The left goes on marches and protests and shrieks about how this needs to change. The right goes and makes their own, better system, and the state immediately freaks out. The government would much rather you 'march on wall street' and 'protest' than voluntarily move to alternatives.

I switched all my money fully to crypto in 2014. I used craigslist to find a landlord who takes cash, everything I need to pay for, I do so by taking it out of crypto. My paycheck I put into crypto, etc. Ask me how my life is doing. :^)

Not real Capitalism. Crypto is pure Ancap, and intended to help crush this issue. With deflationary currencies and a removal of all parasitic middlemen we won't even technically need government imposed UBI in 10 or 20 years when automation takes over the economy. Just smart contracts and DAOs running AIs and distributing excess profits to everyone holding their token. With 0 barrier to entry and minimal initial capital required (since it's deflationary) nobody will go without. Ancaps are going to have unironically achieved all the economic goals of communism without needing a revolution or government cooercian involved AND retaining the ability of the intelligent and creative to stand out via innovation without needing to force an artificial equality. Marx btfo!

Yeah, this. We basically said "fuck you, we'll make our OWN economic system, but with blackjack and hookers", and did. Now the old economy has to compete with the new - people don't appreciate how important that is. And everything the Left wanted economically (classless, stateless society, equal participation in wealth and redistribution of it) is gonna happen - from the Right, and without a shot being fired (unless they start it). It's beautiful.....

youre paying by going against your "system" and cashing it out to be able to pay in the world's system. you even paid taxes if you didnt do anything illegal.

also i would highly disincentivize you to put all your paychecks into something that is 10x more volatile than emerging market currencies

Considering my average buy in price for BTC is 300 USD, I'm feeling pretty comfy. Again I withdraw money to participate for the benefit of those who haven't embraced crypto and the deflationary system, I convert to THEIR currency for their services.

The key is that I don't keep my money in inflationary currencies, I don't keep my money in a bank, etc. This is conceptually the same as buying Turkish Lira when you're travelling in Turkey to pay Turks, it's not analogous to being indebted and enslaved by the Turkish economic system.

Say what you will about BTC/crypto, greater fool theory, bubble, muh tulips, etc, as long as BTC remains worth more than 10 USD, it has achieved something monumental, it is an alternative. For the first time in society I can live in a modern society and have a completely alternative means of maintaining my assets, you could argue Gold served that purpose but its a LOT harder to turn Gold coins into money to pay a surprise bill or medical expense within 24 hours notice. I can turn my crypto into cash within 6 hours.

yeah shit bro bitcoin probably isnt going anywhere that low

but when it comes to the security and stability of my money i would almost always choose the currency and bank of whatever society i live in instead of bitcoin
especially if it is a developed country or in the far future if the world unites and some kind of world currency is used

Ah yes having jew central bankers erode everyone's wealth by 2-3% a year is good for the economy goy

Don't ask questions about why productivity has increased massively since the 1970s but in real terms wages have decreased, just keep working and paying your taxes like a good little goy.

Don't you dare question the government sponsored keynesian and monetarist economists, silly little goy, they know what's best for you. Now run along you're late for your shift at McDonald's.

This is bullshit because the 95% brainlets that barely live from check to check without credit cards cannot literally understand the concept of savings, no matter the future value of money, it's a concept that most people would never understand or act upon.

>> No.9677685

Friends, is the 2% a year inflation rate really needed?

I see some anons in here saying it is, to encourage spending, and one heard as well that spending spurs the economy.
But then I also see anons here saying it is unneeded, to encourage saving, which I also see as good, like a way to have a builtin way of having your money appreciate in the economy
