Hackernews has been notoriously wrong. The best advice i can give you in life is, "Exercise more, eat healthy, do the reverse of what Hacker News would do"

Things that hacker news said that would fail. Dropbox - right to the dropbox's founders face. They said him it's really easy to mount FTP to directories and in 5 minutes reproduce all of dropbox's business model. The dropbox founder linked to that comment on the day of the IPO.

Instagram. They claimed facebook was fucking stupid for paying 1b for it and it would die out soon.
Tesla. Hackernews people can't wrap their minds at how Tesla is losing billions every quarter REEEEEEEEEE.
Nintendo. Hackernews believes that Nintendo's hardware fucking sucks and you cannot develop without a devkit.

The list goes on and on. Literally do the opposite of what hacker news does, every single time.

The guys on hacker news are all programmers that have stolen the title of engineer and all make six figures now in an industry that will be significantly disrupted by crypto. They are saying exactly what they have been programmed to say.

They aren't wrong.

The G20 are a bunch of crooks, but they are making their decision in July, I believe.

They initially said there isn't an issue with "cryptocurrencies", but they never said anything about ICO's. Virtually every ICO has produced over 1000 shitcoins, which is coordinated by a couple singles entities who own the exchanges. Compare something like Gemini/Coinbase to Binance/Bitmex, as far as coin listings. It's pretty clear which way this all going to go.

Use your head and invest in the 2-3 coins that will go up, as all other coins crash.

Cases are being built. People who created ICO's and random token airdrops are morons putting a face to their shitcoin. They will get in trouble.

Everything will happen at once, not over an extended period.

BTC is going to zero and its counterpart will rise.

All part of the plan since 2015-ish to destroy the shitcoins bow to Satoshi.

Nah. A healthy ecosystem with taxable trackable organizations is what they want.
Even if what you are saying could be done (with DEXs, it can't), no way they are going to have enough organization to enforce it across the globe.
I wouldn't be suprised if they try to launch their own global crypto currency and mandate it as a trading pair while they control the inflation in a centralized way though.

It's because Hacker news culture is all about working hard and getting rich on a side project. They are salty that the BTC gabillionares got so rich putting in such little effort.

Hacker news these days manages to be more of a hugbox than fucking reddit somehow, and is filled mostly by soiboy webdevs that couldn't program themselves out of a paper bag, everyone decent left long long ago

Imagine a ML based compiler - that inputs high level language such as python and shits code better optimized than 100 master computer scientists doing CPU instructions only... And it improving minute after minute...

After that think about an IDE where ML helps people write secure and functional code with suggestions targeted at their skill level.

I refer to this as closing the semantic gap and it's happening more and more each year.
You don't need to be a programmer to launch a website any more. At the same time, the general public is getting better at becoming cyborgs.
Soon, hopefully, specialists won't be needed as all things will be understood from a fundamental level through AI in an unsupervised way. What we need at that point is intent, but perhaps ML can design intent through reinforcement learning (or something new..) as well.

Well, this worries me. Hacker news has been an excelent source of information for me (if you disregard politics in general) wrt my SW dev career and I'm really curious on what other sources of info you check that might be better than HN.
