Why is wagecuking to pay of debt seen as normal by society?

it is the main instrument to get the other monkeys do work for you

you are rich when you have the labor of 100 lifetimes

back in the day you had to have slaves and house them and stuff

today you just have the money and the slaves house themselves and if they die you just instantly replace them, it is much better system

wageslaving itself used to not be the parasite on the soul that it is now.
you'd work 30 hours a week and make enough money to pay off your house quickly.
as long as you weren't brain-dead with your money you could retire way before 60 too.

basically, you'd have to actively be making retarded life decisions to not move upwards in society. nowadays it's rigged against you from the start.
me and my parents are one of the only ones in my family with no debt, seriously how fucked is that?

It's not seen as normal, it's seen as 'responsible' to pay off your debts since living above one's means is so normalized nowadays because of the way consumerism works. Ever since they introduced Layby it has worked like this.

As Stanley Kubrick mused to Michael Herr one day after they saw half-finished bottles of wine at a restaurant table
>Some people don't know how to live like monks, donchya think Michael?

CAN be. CAN BE a tool. I would say less than 20% of people ever use it as a tool, and even fewer use it strategically or intelligently so.

This would of been a life back then I would of been completely happy with to work in. Leave my retirement to relaxing and have a quality family.
I hate how today's society pushes credit like its an essential part of life.
> Goy! If you want a holiday don't be a sucker! Take out a personal loan and have it NOW NOW NOW.
In Australia one of our big four banks named Commonwealth Bank pushes credit cards and personal loans every single time you walk in and it gets tiresome telling them no multiple times. My parents have over 100K in their account and are 60+ yet they still try and talk them into getting a credit card.

Look I'm not gonna autistically debate nobody on analogous definitions - irrespective of which you're missing the point I'm making: that few people see debt as anything other than a way of getting frivolities they want, of those that do see it as a way of improving their long-term quality of live beyond the ephemeral pleasure of frivolities an even smaller fraction actually selectively and strategically employ debt in an 'intelligent' way that is most likely to bring windfalls either in the form of increased revenue - say from investments or upskilling to get better employment, decreased expenses, or to purchase services or goods that genuinely decrease or alleviate stress that lead them to spend less money on frivolities.

Debt is only bad when you don't think you're future is as bright as the present.
If you can pay off the future interest with gains you can make in the future, you should take on the debt.
To not take on debt when you think you can pay it off in the future is foolish.
Literally leaving money on the table.
If you're a young white man in America, you instantly get entrusted with tens of thousands of dollars in free money.
If you are such a pathetic piece of shit that you don't know how to create some sort of small gain on that money, then yes, you are correct, the credit is bad and the debt is bad.

Maybe the best analogy could be in monopoly.
Imagine if you could make a deal, allowing yourself 10 free consecutive turns at the beginning of the game, and then after 10 rounds, you have to forfeit your turn every other round, for 10 rounds.
Would you take it?
That much of headstart would be hard to deny, and if you had a few hotels under your belt by the time you had to sit out, it would make sitting out that much easier.

>Debt is only bad when you don't think you're future is as bright as the present.
Sadly most people’s past is brighter than their present. Their earning potential decreases, especially compared to their successful peers of the same age, and they end up in a hamster wheel of trying to pay back loans that were used up long ago by a person they can’t even relate to anyone, and who they don’t recognize in the mirror.

>> No.9336903

>with debt don't live above their means
They do. That’s what living above the means is. People don’t realize just how insanely poor they actually are. This is what loans provide, you can delude yourself that becoming a doctor is reasonable for your kind of people, when in reality you are not equipped for that kind of lifestyle, and you would be bad at it.
If you have negative net worth, you are poorer than the people who beg on the street, and honestly you can’t be trusted with responsibilities more than them either.

Thotposting is a cancerous plague that infects /biz/ and many other boards as well. It's a /b/-tier choice of OP image that's only purpose is clickbait. It lowers the overall quality level of any board where it's not moderated.

/biz/ attempts to self-moderate by shitting up threads who thotpost, e.g. "BRAAAAAP", "I WANT MILKIES", "HOW MANY LINKIES FOR A STINKIE LIKE THAT", etc. which is an effective way to discourage this hideous thotposting: except moderators on /biz/ actually BAN people for posting things like that.

So not only are the moderators doing absolutely nothing about these blatant thotposters, the very people attempting to make the board a better place are the ones getting punished. /biz/ was never a really serious board to begin with, but these /soc/ and /b/-tier threads need to seriously stop.
