no you fuck.
Market orders will buy at a price up to 5% more than your market order price.
So if you buy at 100 and the transaction doesn't occur in those split seconds before the stock jumps up to 103/4/5, you pay 103/4/5.
If it jumps to 106 before a completed transaction, it doesn't buy anything.
This is done because robinhood trades are not as fast as other brokers, and it's a way to protect YOU in case shit gets volatile.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here

> Penny Stock ASTI
> Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc.
> Long Trade

Just bought 1,520 shares of ASTI this morning.
I set a limit buy at 0.18 this morning, just hit that and now wobbling around 0.18
~ $280 cost

> Why?
They have been pretty edgy due to their low stock price, but do have some impressive tech in the works, as well as both Military and Space operation deals potentially. Their MilPak passed Military Standard Testing and was selected for the top 100 R&D Awards coming up in December.

> Should I invest?
Really up to how much you're willing to risk for potential max gains. Yes they have a good product and it could make some amazing revenue with Military. But that is a few months away so this would be one of those "buy and see how it plays out".

> How much am I investing?
In the long run, probably around $1,000. I figured I could hopefully get roughly 5,000 shares for a low price. Each 0.01 increase/decrease is worth $55. So in the end, if they at least hit $1.00 that would be roughly $4,000 in net gain.

>> No.926716

Where do you go to find stocks like that?

>> No.926726

>>926716
Sometimes news mentioning one stock will also mention other stocks. In particular, I was reading about EA and there was a mention about ASTI. I then looked up ASTI myself, if there was any big news going on, how it's been doing in the market for a while.

I highly advice you to always read news that relates to a stock you own/have interest in, as it does affect the price and could lead to other analyst information for other stocks. This one is a pretty risky shot, so I am setting the max to gamble with, and seeing how this goes.

Bought at $55.50 decided to sell at $55.87. Made a whopping $0.32. I'm sure it might go up a few more but don't care, just wanted to free up the funds. >Pattern Day Trading rules only apply to margin accounts; a customer trading in only a cash account will not be designated as a Pattern Day Trader. We define a Day Trade as the purchase and sale of the same security on the same trading day. A customer is designated as a Pattern Day Trader if they make four or more Day Trades in a five trading day sliding window (the Day Trades don’t necessarily have to be for the same security.) In order to engage in Pattern Day Trading you must maintain an equity balance of at least $25,000 in a margin account. Please note that there is no limit on Day Trades in a cash account.

Say you place a market order to try and buy a stock immediately at $100, and as soon as you place the market order the stock jumps to $120. 5% of $100 is $5, so worst case scenario you'll actually end up buying at $105 instead of $100. The app tries to complete your order as soon as it can at $100 and it's usually pretty close. But there is a possibility it can be off up to +/- 5% of what you actually want. With a limit order if you say you want to buy at $100, it will buy as soon as the price is $100 or lower to give you the best rate. Just don't use market orders, only place limit orders so you get the exact price you want and there is no up to 5% difference between what you want and what you could get. There are no fees as of yet, however when they implement margin accounts there will be a fee to use them. Borrowing money to trade is a terrible way to invest anyway so I'd stay away from margin accounts.

Yes you can buy and sell immediately as many times as you want, provided you have cash to re-buy each time. There are no limits or tax implications for buying/selling as much as you want with a cash account. Only a margin account has limitations. So day trading rules only apply to margin accounts, cash accounts can do what they want. Note for a cash account once the stock is sold it takes 3 days to get the $ and you cannot buy stocks with unsettled funds. So if you want to buy a stock, sell it, and buy it again all in the same day - you'll need hard cash in your account to buy it the second time. No buying anything with unsettled funds.

On top of their recent achievement, according to their latest quarterly report:

"Total revenue for the second quarter of 2015 was $2.2M, up approximately 105% from the same period last year. Loss from Operations in the quarter was ($6.9M), an improvement of approximately $1M or 12.6% from ($7.9M) in the same period last year ... due to a combination of increasing sales and improved operational efficiencies while keeping operating expenses marginally down. These expenses are expected to remain relatively flat while we continue to ramp up on revenue growth."

so I've been playing with Robinhood today just to learn how the program works.

I sold one single stock of HEAR at market.
When I look at the order status, it says it sold one share at $3.09
But now when I look at my account overview, it says I have $3.07 in unsettled funds.

where did the other 2 cents go? is that robinhood taking a piece? i thought they just made their money using my uninvested cash...

You used a market order which can be off up to 5%. Robinhood isn't as fast as ETrade or Vanguard etc. so it wasn't able to process the transaction that fast. In the meantime the stock price fluctuated. No one has your 2 cents, it's just that the stock price fluctuated before the order completed.

so, no, you don't. If you did:
a) $1 literally wouldn't be worth your time to set up two limit trades for
and b) you would be putting more than $72 dollars into something that you're going to daytrade on. Buy 100 shares and closely monitor, step a stop-loss limit, and you can easily multiply your earnings by 5 with roughly the same risk (because, you know, risk is proportional to your "tons of unused cash reserves")

That wouldn't have changed his situation at all. You're an idiot if you just buy stock, put on a stop loss and only sell when it jumps if it goes up a million percent. Stop loss doesn't even guarantee you get market price for your stocks, in fact you often get well below market price.

It doesn't even apply to that anon's situation who knew WTW was going to jump this morning and just wanted to flip it quickly.

>> No.931653

>>931644
I would have hold out a little longer. Flipping stock quickly means you just tied down that money for three days. Plus, predictions say it's going to $19. I would rather sell after peak and be down a little than sell while it's still rising.

Just my opinion, everyone has their own tactics.
