Money in and of itself won't make you happy, you should always consider money as a means to an end. As for me, I just want to be able to do what I love without worrying about cash. I think the reason most rich people get depressed is because they had no clear goal about what they wanted to do with their lives except becoming rich. Most people are not very optimistic by nature, even less so among people who can actually get really rich to begin with. I’m personally motivated to make it and escape the rat race while I’m still young. That alone drives me and excites me. But imagine being handed a $100 million trust fund when you turn 18, having always had what you wanted and NEVER having to have worked for anything. Everything was always handed to you, there is literally no motivation or drive and these people end up either blowing it and going broke or dying of heroin overdoses in Thailand.

The real challenge is making it yourself, THEN truly appreciating the good life and freedom that YOU earned - that nothing was handed to you.

Serious: because working to survive is a huge distraction. Without that distraction there is a lot of free time to left, and it becomes easy to ruminate over the bigger questions in life, the one's that don't have concrete answers. What is your purpose? Why is there suffering? etc

And before you know it you've turned into a hedonist, doing drugs and buying women just to fill the void. And that's only a temporary escape.

I doubt most of us will find the answers to all of those philosophical questions, you could read some Nietzsche if you're really looking for reasons not to off yourself I guess. If you make it and have nothing to do then set some goals or get hobbies at least that's what I'd do. Devote your life to creating something beautiful and worthwhile rather than wasting away. Easier said than done but I'd consider that to be the end game.
