Popular brokers for stock trading:
Robinhood
>commission free and no minimum to open
http://www.robinhood.com

> How is it free?
Robinhood earns revenue by collecting interest on cash/securities and fees from their Robinhood Gold service

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

What's nice about investing is you don't have to swing at pitches. You can watch pitches come in one inch above or one inch below your navel and you don't have to swing. No umpire is going to call you out. You can wait for the pitch you want.

In investing, just as in baseball, to put runs on the scoreboard one must watch the playing field, not the scoreboard.

I've never swung at a ball while it's still in the pitcher's glove.

The stock market is a no-called-strike game. You don't have to swing at everything - you can wait for your pitch. The trick in investing is just to sit there and watch pitch after pitch go by and wait for the one right in your sweet spot. And if people are yelling, 'Swing, you bum!,' ignore them.

You don't have to be an expert on every company, or even many. You only have to be able to evaluate companies within your circle of competence. The size of that circle is not very important; knowing its boundaries, however, is vital.

mate its too EARLY to be buying weed stocks. i feel bad for that canadian weed guy, cuz he seems really nice and informative (and i thoroughly enjoy canadian herb myself) but investing in weed stocks means youre speculating on favorable legislation for weed, which has been sparse lately. combine that with the massive derisking and low volume weve seen all across the board, and i think the weed stocks have yet to really find their bottom.

absolutely, but i think the 600% run in the last two years was people prematurely pricing legalization in. when some big guys took out their speculative plays after banks faltered, all the rest of the guys who were speculating too ran off, and then it cascaded into a big selloff. im not looking for any longs right now personally (unless they have good divs). no doubt a lot of these weed companies will do great, but september is a long ways away, and we still dont have an accurate read on whether this is gonna be a bull or bear year. i mean, these bank ERs were supposed to clarify it, but here we are

thats why you dont only invest in companies that just grow on mass scales. There is going to be a vast oversupply very soon because of the growhouses these companies are setting up.

The real money will be for value added products, ie companies that make secondary products like oils, sprays, capsules, patches, etc. These products will be marketed towards boomers who could use the cannabinoids for various side-effect free medicines

Basically the LPs will become wholesale growers and will send their products to companys like Hydropothecary and Emerald Health and Emblem Cannabis to create new medicines

Be on the lookout for Emblem Cannabis. CEO is ex president of Purdue pharma. Just got partnered with Shoppers Drug Mart and Fire and Flower the biggest private cannabis retailer in Canada. Their marketing is also on point

Also dont forget preclinical research companies. Yoru statement doesnt apply to cmpanies like Tetra Bio Pharama, Inmed pharma, and Nemus bioscience as they are not LPs

also theres the fact that everyone is totally fine going long on companies that have P/Es > 30, with no divs. have you ever read irrational exuberance by robert shiller? give it a quick read. it talks about market psychology being the driving factor when we are in a speculative bubble. this is confirmed by trump tweets causing major selloffs etc. everyone is trading emotionally, and seems to think it incredulous that we would ever go down. i disagree

if anyone deserves to be shorted into dust its these banks, for putting us right back where we started 10 years ago. of course thats me letting emotion into it, but the technicals and fundamentals both look bad too (rather the fundamentals look like theyve peaked, which is a huge macro bearish indicator).

On the large caps, possibly. They've been rising the last few days so current entry has somewhat limited upside in exchange for the risk. There are still undervalued mid and small caps if you do some research though. And it's very worthwhile to put out feelers on US plays for future (don't buy yet).

Feel bad? Never. I swing trade this sector, anon. It gets as much trust from me as it deserves, which is zero. Just hopping in and out on the big price movements. This isn't my first speculative meme rodeo.

It will, but they aren't pulling original Star Wars numbers, are still paying off their investment from the purchase of the brand, and the increase in ticket price + %cut Disney takes means less and less people are actually seeing Star Wars, just that fewer people are paying more for it

Like I said, unsustainable as is. John William's theme has headed more bad movies than good ones at this point, merchandizing and video games are dead. Completely unsustainable

Doesn't matter that they don't pull in the original or prequel trilogy numbers because unlike Lucasfilm, Disney is the master of merchandising and annualized sequels. Look at how they are whoring out the Marvel characters? The point is, Disney bought the brands that we grew up on so they could sell to the next generation and the generation after. They prey on nostalgia like no one else (maybe Nintendo is better).

This is a rant completely unrelated to the thread, but it makes me angry so I'm sharing it

I have a new rant. So this roastie, she randomly tried to take my virginity because she had not gotten dick in a few days. She got kicked out of the house because she's the ultra-degenerate, then she ends up in a mental hospital, gets out, and moves in with one of her beta orbiters
Then she becomes a cam girl to make money
Anyway, she decides her beta orbiter's house isn't good enough, so she starts shopping for a new man
She goes through her facebook, finds some lonely hack she barely knows with his own place, messages him, starts sending him nudes on snapchat, and now their together
She moves in, buys a dog, and now they're dating(edited)
All because she's like a 7.5 of 10
Being a woman a mildly attractive white woman is literally like on easy mode

>> No.8934475

I talked about selling a call
In that case, you want the stock to go down
And you have extra risk if you don't hold the underlying shares since you will scramble to buy them and deliver them if you get called out by the call buyer.

>> No.8934488

>>8934417
Selling any option contains the risk that the option holder can exercise the call and get 100 shares from out at the strike price. If you do not have those shares you have to go on the market, buy them and give them away for a loss.

Selling calls is generally reserved for hedging risk against stock you already own in case it does down. You get the option price in cash added to your account to hopefully offset any future losses.
