Your parents and their parents shipped domestic manufacturing jobs overseas to make products cheaper, making quality jobs in that sector a thing of the past. Then they let jews buy up all the land who are using it to soak up agricultural subsidies or rent it out and collect the profits.

Don't forget also: further concentration of industry into main cities, combined with increasing population.

That's not all of course: you also have the increasing price of construction itself due to the higher quality materials involved + costs from regulations. Plus the higher taxes that are paid to the workers themselves, and those taxes in turn go to pay for welfare programs like the US military.

>>8900708
House prices are higher because people are allowed to borrow more to buy them. In the old days, banks considered risk and so didn't lend a lot to people who could never pay back. These days the banks can lend out as much as they like (even to people they know can never repay) because the government will bail them out when they get in trouble, there is no risk to them. Therefore, we as taxpayers are helping banks pump up house prices out of our reach.

Still fucktarded. All I want is a shoebox with:
-electric outlets
-oven/range
-microwave
-sink
-shitter
shower would be nice but a gym membership provides that too. Might even go full Soylent before too long, so the entire kitchen except for the sink becomes almost unnecessary as well.

But shit doesn't scale like that. Because of the proliferation of mcmansions, smaller houses/apartments are less available, and plus the price of smaller housing doesn't go down proportionately with the amount of square feet. There's almost like a baseline amount of xboxhueg cash that you have to pay to own a tin box on top of your own land.

>Like honestly, just go outside and look at nature
Do you have any idea how quickly that gets old?

>What else would you do in a big city
Get a life you fucking virgin. You can go to nice restaurants, bars, clubs. If you're more creatively inclined you can take classes for art or dance, learning languages. If you're a nerd you can join social groups for niche hobbies like tabletop gaming or video games. Places you can meet and converse with other people. The PRIMARY reasons that young people are drawn to cities are the OPTIONS you get. Don't like clubs, malls or bars? You don't need to go to them. But if you do, you need to be in a city. Don't like tabletop games or dancing? Fine, no one's forcing you into it, but if you do you need to be in a city. Even if you're a complete shut in, you still have a far greater capacity to meet friends or girls more compatible with you because there are hundreds of thousands if not millions to choose from. OPTIONS.

You can do things with your life other than rotting away in a hole you call your room, or being stuck with the 30 year old versions of people you didn't like back in your town's one high school anyway.

For younger people, encourage them to skip college, and start working immedietely and saving for that house. That way they get life experience and savings at the beginning of their lives, instead of prolonging childhood while racking up debt. And at the end of four years they have a house instead of a piece of paper.

(If a company wants people with bachelor’s degrees they should pay their own workers to take classes, not force workers to subsidize their own advanced training. Important college necessary jobs like GP doctors can be slotted and paid for by the government, with extremely competitive entrance exams.)

There’s lots of other stuff politicians can do to stop selling out the American worker/home owner, some of which has been talked about in this thread already, but skipping college is probably the most empowering thing a young person can do right off the bat.

Most small towns are suburbs or at least within reasonable traveling distance of a larger area, though.

Your point about options is well-taken, though. Nasim Taleb wrote in The Black Swan that success is almost wholly due to luck, and luck can be found where there are options (like you said), and options are condensed in cities.

It's partially why certain branches of the military boast more success among its members than others--base/post locations are big. I joined the Navy to gtfo out of a town with less than 3000 people that was 45 minutes away from the nearest metro area that wasn't just a hub for a major hospital. Picked the Navy because bases are ALL coastal, nearby major cities.

Sure enough, was stationed in San Diego. Pulled all the stops to gain a ton of experience, and my civilian jobs after leaving were the envy of everyone back home (made more in early twenties than they did in their 40s doing less work). Now I'm going to school not only for free, but with a housing allowance stipend of nearly 3k/mo. That's on top of my regular salary.

That being said, CA is expensive mostly because of military activity--the gov't creates inflation by paying members housing allowances and wages that match the average rent price, which doesn't exactly incentivize landlords to drop prices, which means houses are expensive, etc..

If the military left CA, the bay area would remain highly expensive but San Diego county and NorCal (Monterey etc) would experience a sweet drop in real estate prices...

A single bed mobile home can be purchased from between $15,000-30,000. The possibility of owning small and inexpensive housing exists in very far outskirts of big cities and in cities that have yet to develop their housing markets fully. You get what you pay for. The average home price in the USA is just over 220,000. This is the average between the extremely low cost housing and the highest cost city housing. There are many resources available online to help you find what you are looking for. Most people who comment saying that it is impossible to find housing in this country for under $200,000 are simply unwilling to switch to a less desirable neighborhood.

That's actually incorrect. The Boomers saw new laws and new programs to help them buy the glut of new homes being built in the 50's, the FHA was created and the VA and GI bill made it really easy to get a mortgage as a factory worker. A lot of them signed up for 25-30 year mortgages, too, and interest rates were like 5%. It's called the Boom generation for a reason - there were millions of simple ranch houses built, creating the suburbs. Before the war, buying a house meant you were rich - after the war, everyone had one. They weren't mcmansions, but they were houses. Talking to my old relatives, buying a house in the 50's was dead easy compared to today.

There's no harm in not allowing aliens to buy up all your property though. Should only be allowed to own property if you're a citizen.

i know. we in particular are in the biggest housing bubble in the world. a shithoel commie block near me in the suburbs would set me back at least 400k aud

but dont forget, a tremendous amount of what you make nowadays simply goes towards your other expenses as purchasing power is so low.
