Dude I make 100k USD a year (well 82k€) and I'm just a basic engineer here in germany.

Could easily make quite a bit more in a big company but then I'd be doing a job I don't enjoy, and that's just a waste of time. Nothing like regularly working on exciting projects like a microscope for the ISS.
