The Concise Binary Object Representation (CBOR) is a data format whose design goals include the possibility of extremely small code size, fairly small message size, and extensibility without the need for version negotiation. also: Some applications that would like to use JSON need to transport binary data, such as encryption keys, graphic data, or sensor values. In JSON, these data need to be encoded (usually in base64 format), adding complexity and bulk.

i remember some previous fud that json was a shitty format to fetch data. it didn't exactly proliferate though, maybe it was only one thread where someone posted via comment a pic comparing speeds of transferring data of different formats. i dont know if CBOR was included though. does anyone else remember? prolly around november. anyway, lo and behold. lmao

Explain for someone who is not from the field.

To be honest, just tell me if this is good development leap or just a trivial or minor thing.

if youre right then that's cool, the exact same shit lol. my memory isnt as good, i cant be arsed to dig through the archives. CBOR, JSON format, Binary Representation, nothing shows up. im gonna try searching for JSON and scour november threads right now but if i get bored then fuck it
