Remember merch clans like Smokin Mils? They would encourage noobs to pump random items in the ge then dump on them.

Terrible update after terrible from 2007 onwards, when the game was hitting its peak

>> No.8792841

yes, but not the grand exchange, but banning trade ruined the game.

>> No.8792861

Yeah, I miss the days were you could get fair prices and everybody had a gentlemen's agreement not to fuck you over on common items. Rare items however, you could charge as much as you want.

Remember when this game had like over 150k player online showing.
Its been downhill since ge and wildy kill.

If you werent around the time when varrock was plastered with players occupating each pixel in town spaming the chat with offers and sells then you missed out on life

Starting out mining coal and made a few hundred thousand. Then I starting trading god armor. Would spend hours behind varrock bank with a chat bot buying and selling different god armor and occasionally easter eggs. Good times.

I was literally in this merch clan. When the fuck was that? Like 2011?

I logged over 200 days playtime on RS over the course of 8 years. Sometimes I forget I even played that game. Jesus fuck

>> No.8793720

Yes it did. This game was so great with it's market system.

What a great childhood game - much better than wow

That's fucked up. You have a problem.

Now checking the economy system in RuneScape, it seems something that I would enjoy nowadays. A shame I wasn't into MMOs and economy when I was a teen but it's too late to get into RuneScape now.

Bruh and other people in the thread, go play oldschool runescape. It's a clone of the 2007 version with additional community voted content. You aren't too late ;)

You needed to show you had a decent amount of cash to get in the clan. I think it was 10 million or some shit. Then leaders would chose an item to pump that didn't have too much volume. Then they would get everyone in the clan to buy the daily limits of that item until it was time to dump it all and make a profit. And of course, the leaders were the only ones able to take maximum advantage.

I used to be in it. The earning potential wasn't much if all you had was less than 100 million GP or so.

I wasted a lot of time with that game. Overall, nothing good came out of it.

I briefly botted this game using f2p accounts. I wasn't that knowledgeable about the game so I ended up sending them to mine clay and trade to mule accounts (miner accounts would get banned every 3 hours or so). I think I was mining something like 100k clay per day with 40 accounts going 24/7 but I overloaded the supply on the GE and prices crashed from high 100s to 80s so I gave up.
