Certain factors in ones life, depending on what is important to YOU and not what some government/group wants, will controll the actions people take (like protecting their offspring).

Just because a government suddenly declares everyone is """equal""", not counting party members and their special treatment of course, does not make it so.
And nearly always these regimes are forced to deploy an insane amount of resources to "controlling" (butchering is more honest) the population into going along, by either killing them, putting them into camps or threatening their family (which proves once more that the well being of the offspring is more important than someone else)

People choose to work together, because it provides a greater chance of survival and taking care of others increases the long term success, as long as people are willing to follow whatever system put into place which outlines the groups dynamic.

If communism is such a great ideology then why was it never able to counter forgein influence and sustain said system?
Instead it crumbled every time, went against its own rules and adopted from the opposition for the sake of keeping that cancer alive.
When the time came, the leadership fled the country, moved insane amounts of resources/wealth out of their sphere of influence and abandonded the people around them.

So yes, individualism is part of human society since the beginning and certain systems allow it more than others, which is not realy a point that speaks for communism when it needs to opress it for the sake of getting rid of the opposition.
