Is therapy a meme?
I'm going through a middle age crisis and I'm considering going to therapy.
What does biz think? Is it worth it? Is therapy a meme?

Might help. Deep down we all know the truth about our situation and what we need to do, but having someone to talk to about it can help us to be honest with ourselves.

i have a bi-monthly visit to a therapist
it helps me keep my neetbux and i get some coffee, a comfy chat i guess, and some medication that doesnt work

Talk therapy can help a lot with processing your thoughts and pinpointing your problems and finding solutions.

Yoga, running, biking, lifting, taking up a new hobby--these things really do all help as well.

Sorry, I don't know why I thought middle age started from 30 years, I checked and it's from 40's.

Considering it myself, I'm a NEET in my mid 30s and my life is a mess. Living in chaos with an oedipal mother, as JBP would call it. I've never been to therapy or counseling and it seems really intimidating and humiliating, but not sure where else to turn at this point.

Are you a burger? Most burger seem to think that having a therapist is a good thing and dont think twice about mentioning it. Where I am from it would be perceived as a sign of weakness or mental illness. It depends on what you think it can do for you

it's not a meme at all and once you get comfortable after your first few initial appointments, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the experience.
if you aren't happy with the experience then it means you should find a different therapist.

Dude, just go have a good cry and go for a long drive. Therapy is a fucking meme.

I dunno, I had a few when I was a kid but none of them had the guts to just say my dad was a crazy asshole and my problem was not being able to understand why the world is so full of assholes. So for me it was a waste of time.

(Have a pretty good relationship with my parents these days but it took years of work, and a lot of quiet introspection and life experience on my part.)

Actually, if you can just find random strangers to listen to your problems it would probably do you just as well as a therapist would. Don't talk about your problems with good friends because you will burden them unnecessarily, just find someone to listen who you will probably never see again and just talk their ear off for a while, then rinse and repeat with someone else, until you have become very good at explaining what your feelings are. Then you will have a better idea what's really bothering you, and what you might do next.
