Popular brokers for stock trading:
Robinhood
>commission free and no minimum to open
http://www.robinhood.com

> How is it free?
Robinhood earns revenue by collecting interest on cash/securities and fees from their Robinhood Gold service

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

I’m not ready to short, I don’t even think the market is going to dive but with rate hike fud being a mainstay this year we haven’t seen the last of it yet. 2018 will likely be a mediocre year. Bring on tech wreck 2.0, it’s about fucking time. Too bad it won’t be isolated like the first one though. Even more reason to let it rip.

Stocks can't stray away from their true value forever. Reality checks in sooner or later.

stock price is dependent on company performance instead of whatever it is that crypto price is based on.
penny stocks are similar in terms of volatility. there's usually one penny stock per day that blows up 100%. trading penny stocks is dangerous though.

Mostly. This is actually a key part of value trading if you want to play that game. Find the stocks that are priced outside "fair value", meaning the ones that are trading below where they ought to be based on company performance, buy them, profit.

Anyway, to anon who was asking, there are more ways to trade stocks than there is for crypto. Stock market has a number of different types of shares in addition to the regular ones; your warrants and options and so on. There are also index funds and mutual funds and indices that track things other than companies.

heres an interesting fact about disney. and i only know this because i have friends who are signed to their music label (or rather, their private record label was bought out by disney). disney has been on a fucking rampage lately buying up IPs and small labels with IPs that look profitable. this is especially so in the music biz (but also in all facets of entertainment and media). imagine if you were disney, would you try to spend time and money scouting out for talent, launching an ad campaign, then pressing all of the records etc? no. its far easier to simply buy up labels that already have good records and bands that people like (and this is especially so in old hipster labels that only do represses of shit), take 95% of the profit for record sales, then rub their hands together and give the group "free press" and the ability to go on the late show etc. the bands get a nice signing bonus, but then they get like 5cents a record sale, and must tour in order to stay afloat. the bands and labels acquired get to keep their street cred for being "independent", and the disney execs get a nice passive investment on the entertainment industry. all they have to do is pull a couple strings for their acquisitions right in the beginning.

disney is about to become A LOT more profitable in the future, as they have been making really good deals like this, not only in the music entertainment industry, but the media and movie biz as well. their only major competitor is sony, who is doing mostly the same thing lately in regards to music IPs. i would say give it a couple quarters for all their assets to settle and then go really fucking long on them.

As for DIS amusement park segment

I don't know if that was priced in but they are trying to revamp their parks by including trendy themes like the Avengers and Star Wars.

I remember the day DIS announced an investment in Disneyland Paris. DIS market cap tanked by almost the same projected amount of cash of the investment (~2.2B$).

Experience will be valued by the next generation of parents and I would go bullish for their amusement park segment.

The rest of DIS business is rather conservative...

A few words on the motion picture segment. The way I see the whole sector, it is a shrinking business and the big fish will take most of the delicious cake and rape all the actresses. So we will be seeing a consolidation in it and DIS is big enough to have all the pie. And DIS has been delivering and will continue to deliver with the contents. Any blockbuster will be icing on the cake.

And like that anon said, the streaming business will be critical for DIS's growth but I find it to be very speculative since NFLX already had a big advance in it. This part should be heavily discounted in DIS valuation.

very much. their big thing to move into streaming could easily be done, but even if that fails, they should have absolutely no problem staying profitable.

but like i said, a lot of these acquisitions have been hush hush because as soon as people catch wind that their favorite indy label is owned by the mickey mouse corp, they wont buy it because hipsters. but make no mistake, between disney, and sony, about 90% of actually profitable independent music labels are puppeted by one of those two. i would assume that they also do this quietly so as to avoid arousing any people who might want to make an example (trust busting) out of their horizontal expansion over the whole entertainment industry

4/20 SPY calls. Fed decision tomorrow is going to either make my day (10% chance) or completely knock me out of trading for good (90% chance). Anyone have thoughts on if they're really gonna increase the rate and if it's actually priced in or not?

>> No.8465615

>>8465521
>will they raise rates
yes
>is it priced in
yes

what isnt priced in is hints on what the fed is thinking will do long term. they fed is very cautious, they'll signal something a many meetings in advance. then every meeting they'll signal that the previous signal is still correct. if the fed signals that they're reconsidering a previous decision they've hinted at, that might shock markets. but everyone is expecting higher rates.

banks are thinking 20 years ahead
they keep buying because the markets are still drastically underpriced in comparison to 20 years from now
they dont care about politics, news, rates, tariffs, nothing, they use those as excuses to sell off and boost revenue, but they will keep buying, its free money forever

>> No.8465826

specifically people are worried about the total number of rate hikes this year. last year the fed signaled they want to hike rates 3 times in 2018 but people are jittery that the fed will signal it wants to hike rates 4 times in 2018 during this meeting.

its sort of a mixed bag. if the economy is strong, that's great and the fed will talk about it and people will get pumped but that means its more likely they'll signal 4 rate hikes this year. if the economy is weak they might signal 2 rate hikes but that sucks because the economy is weak. (though we're on the 3/4 border, not the 3/2 border so 2 hikes is really unlikely and would be worse than 4)

And down about 50% from July 2015. Meanwhile share price is down 50% from July 2017. Z O O M O U T
>split adjusted price 5 years ago: ~$23,800,000
They diluted their shares to almost zero to save the company from bankruptcy. Yet people still buy it like it’s some world-class company. $10,000 invested 5 years is worth a fucking penny at best. Dilute, split, dilute, split, dilute, split. Oh and give old George a salary for the pleasure. Reverse splits in 2017 add up to something like 7,600:1. He doesn’t give a flying fuck about shareholders, he doesn’t even believe you exist. His quote “Who are my shareholders? Algorithms, hedge funds & institutions that make $10 and get out”. And both his companies are like this.
Admit it, you’re fucking gambling. If you want to try and catch some boner on the chart like Nov 2016 go right ahead. But lets not pretend this is an investable company. You know and I know this is the biggest POS on the market. Thankfully anyone with change to throw around know that too.
