GPI has nothing to do with Chainlink, as far as we know.
Although this is good news for Chainlink in the sense that Swift is still developing and working with blockchain/DLT (specifically Hyperledger/Fabric).

Yeah, "partnerships" are such a meme in crypto. That and "announcements".

Smart contracts can potentially remove the need for banks, insurance companies, lawyers, commercial courts, ... They need (something like) Chainlink, not the other way around.
A """partnership""" with something like Swift would be nice for instant profits, but that's peanuts compared to the true long-term potential of smart contracts.

Swift isn't going to talk about the underlying economic incentive for a third-party solution they use. If they do mention Sergey's project specifically, they're going to talk about "smartcontract.com", which is the name of the company.

More likely they're just going to talk about "smart contracts" in general, without mentioning Sergey's company.

Btw, the underlying Swift report behind OP's article mentions "smart contracts" 10 times, see https://www.swift.com/resource/gpi-real-time-nostro-proof-concept

(just fill in fake information, it doesn't matter)

In general, Swift holds smart contracts in very high regard, as does pretty much the entire financial industry.
Swift many other top financial players (WEF, Capgemini, Gartner, ...) even explicitly mention and/or work with Chainlink (smartcontract.com) in this context.

Basically crypto as we know it today is getting saturated (just look at all the shitcoins out there), but smart contracts are only at the very beginning.

>Whilst the use of smart contracts for
this purpose could be envisaged,
it would come at a potentially high
cost dependent upon the level of
customisation required on the top of the
DLT based solution.
In addition, feedback from participating
banks indicate that independently
from the underlying technology layer,
any potential industry solution should
leverage existing SWIFT gpi assets and
services, such as the central tracker, to
limit the banks’ required investment

You do know Ripple's banking software and their coin they are selling have little to nothing do with each other, Ripple coin is just a means to make people unaware of this fund their project. it isn't a long term hold for obvious reasons whereas CL is

ive done my research into ripple and know that XRP is just ripple labs and is not related directly to their banking software and is completely a centralized asset

at the same time, that doesn't mean there is no use or utility from xrp as adoption in entrenched industries is a big factor for me when valuing crypto assets and ripple is clearly ahead of others in that arena

>“Although the PoC demonstrated DLT could improve Nostro liquidity management and reconciliation processes, it also revealed that the pre-requisites will have to be met before banks can enjoy the full benefits of switching to a DLT process”, added Vanderveken.

>The PoC also showed that further progress is needed on the DLT technology itself before it will be ready to support production-grade applications in large-scale, mission-critical global infrastructures. For example, while 528 channels were required in the PoC to ensure Nostro accounts would only be stored on the nodes of their account servicers and owners, to productise the solution, more than 100,000 channels would need to be established and maintained, covering all existing Nostro relationships, presenting significant operational challenges.
