Do you "act like your net worth"?

I've always been humble and don't buy expensive clothes, gadgets, cars etc but I think the jig is up.

>co-worker: How much bitcoin do you have?
>me: That's like asking how much I have in my bank account, would you like me to show you that as well?

Ever since that comment my colleagues treat me differently, like they're buttering me up. The theory of how money changes people is true. Except it changes OTHER people and I notice the fakeness now they thinks I'm rich.

Same here, gossip and misinformation spreads fast at work, but I'm there to learn social skills and learn to be a normie so it serves its purpose

I don't think my co-workers understand it still - they're lawyers and I'm the forensics guy, I was mentioning they should perhaps put some money in BTC when it was still a little over $1k in 2016 but I think even now it's still just some silly nerd thing to them their autistic tech guy is interested in. But they're so used to the idea they're the lawyers they're at the top of this social hierarchy. We started sharing an office with an angel investment fund at the beginning of 2017 and I was chatting with one of those guys there about some trades we'd made over the weekend and someone overheard how much money I'd made that weekend - more than this person made in a month. But I still don't think she believed it. Amongst some of them I think it's starting to become an in-joke that I'm secretly rich but I still think there's a part of them that believes it's all silly internet money that will go away. I take some satisfaction from that. The best thing to come out of it is some of the partners are starting to talk to me about the implications of this stuff for fraud.

Not "crypto-rich" like most like to larp as here, but actually EXTREMELY fiat rich.
Their business is a household name in our country.

You'd legit never think he was a billionaire.
Wears worn out clothes, and commutes, rides the bus or the train, and has an old beatup car he doesn't use often because "gas is expensive".
Stays at the office all day, and heads straight home and doesn't like going out.

His children are living the life though, spending all his hard earned cash, with designer clothes and bags, expensive cars, always the latest phone models, taking vacations in different countries every month, not even having real jobs despite having degrees.

We're still in contact, he's still the same old nerd, yet he's worth a couple million, but he doesn't spend any of it, he just lives an average life. He repairs air conditioners for a living, but he works as many hours as he likes, so definitely more freedom than the average normie.

Something that made me laugh was when we were talking about how much money he had/how much he had made througu bitcoin, he said "i'm being 100% honest, I have no idea how much money I have"

One day I'd love to be that comfortable, that's it's just no longer an issue, right now I can tell you within ~$200 how much money I have, because it's so little, and it mean's so much to me

Or rather, it hasn't gone up: Since I discovered crypto and /biz/ in June, my room looks like a mess, I don't eat anything healthy and I get laid only with my old fuck buddies.

I have the same mindset, but IMO this is way overdoing it. If you truly have billions and most likely easy access to liquid millions, you have more than you could ever spend assuming your lifestyle is even slightly sensible. If you don't stop worrying about small expenses at that point and still keep spending all your waking hours working, you're accumulating all that wealth for nothing.

I have a hobby that I invest in and a business idea that I invest in.

I use money outside of this sparingly. I'll treat myself to Chipotle, Q'doba, or chocolate almonds at the store. Besides that I still have the same 3 shirts and 4 pants that I iron myself. My shoes wear down before I buy new ones. I wouldn't dream of buying a new car before the old one stops (or is in danger of doing so).

Who am I trying to impress? Nobody likes me anyway.

Delusional optimism.
>Plenty to go around
>Plenty of fish in the see
>There will always be another time
>win some lose some
The idea is rooted in PUA culture if I'm not mistaken, and basically is a mental strategy for picking up women that reduces any individual woman's value in your mind because you whole heatedly believe the "plenty of fish in the sea" meme, which in and of itself is not a bad strategy, it just has limitations in both application and finite limited resources (such as the amount of women that exist in your available pool, and more applicably to money making: the span of your life and the bell curve of your ability to generate value throughout it).

Everyone feels this way until they've had their first brush with mortality. It's not possible to say how much it will change you. Not to mention the chronic conditions that will come from this lifesfyle. When you realize your entire life is forever changed, that you are and will always be less mobile, less flexible, less free, and that it was your own shortsightedness that put you there. Take it from someone who knows. The regret is not worth it, and by the time you feel it, it will be too late.

I honestly have over 2.5m (not in crypto), though investing into different shares like netflix.
At the same time I wear an old jacket that has a hole, mainly because I dont like shopping and I dont wanna buy some jacket that is not as comfortable as the one I have right now.
I eat pretty plain, mostly stuff like oats, potatoes and veggies (no restaurant or mcdonals).
I still drive my old car, simply because its still working fine.
