It is not a perfect hammer, but it has potential to be a good trend reversal. If the next 4 hour candle gets a higher low than this, we've reversed the downtrend. If it dips below this low, we're probably going into a bear market.

Even so, most reliable way to judge it would be to wait for the current 4 hour candle to close. If it starts to dip significantly below 9.5k, I will definitely tether up.

That's not the only thing TA does. TA lets you find support and resistance points, and from there on also figure out what points are of high interest and where a trend might change before it changes, so that you can watch the market closely when it hits these critical points and make an educated decision about what to do. It also lets you recognise very common patterns that suggest a reversal of the trend and find the points at which you probably want to buy/sell, figure out whether or not a correction is highly likely in the near future etc.

Price action, points of interest, support/resistance, market sentiment and volume are all things that need to be taken into account for good TA. If you do good TA, you will trade far more intelligently.

You can do all of this without drawing lines on a graph, but it's a very helpful visualisation tool to draw it on a chart. It makes both the analysis easier to make and the conclusions easier to find.
