Why do normies go into debt, take loans, to buy an overpriced depreciated asset?

I will never understand their mentality.

I just buy cheap 1k-2k hondas that get me from a to b. I am able to invest the rest of my money by doing this, instead of buying something that loses thousands the minute you drive off the lot.

I drive a 1996 LS400

you can buy one for about $3k and they were 65k+ new.

drives better than my fiances brand new ford escape.

but. i will probably buy a new one if i make it.

i literally grew up poor so i've got that jigaboo vein that needs shiny & new things to fill that void.

i literally had to wear my friends clothes "hand me downs". they went to the same school as me so people would notice i was wearing anons old shirts.

the norman mind does not consider what is sufficient in terms of practicality but instead craves what is new in order to signal others of the same mindset that he exists and that he is part of the modern world

i will be a trust fund kid in the future but im already 32. i wish i had that money now to live a fun life while im young.

grandad is 84 with dementia, and a penny pincher. don't people realize you can't take it with you..

also; i dated a girl who physically abused me. for some reason i was madly in love with her. that's another story.

>make more money repairing old cars
Nope. They make more money selling cars a model year ahead for $10,000 higher than typical resale values, or by leasing it (i.e. rent) to people so they can take it back in two years and sell it again, plus $1,000 maintenance package.
You can’t justify a premium for parts, and upselling is rather difficult. Plus they know this shit won’t drive for 50 years without motor & transmission work.
Also safety regulations change so often, old cars need to be retrofitted to accomodate new requirements, this is not often as simple as just bolting on parts. The entire body needs to change.

You're pathetic. There just is no comparison that will make a new car look like the better economic decision.
Those expensive cars, no matter if it's a Mercedes, BMW or whatever lose half their value within their first 3 years. After 3 years though a car is basically still new.

Nothing can justify buying a brand new car. It's just the worst *investment* in the world. Because it's not an investment, it's a waste of money.
But I'm still happy that there are enough idiots who do it. That way there will always be a constant supply of cheap cars that will have already lost a big chunk of value when smart people decide to buy them.

I took my 6 figure crypto gains and launched three businesses. Do you know how to get talented 20 year old designers? Look interesting, know about non autist things, help them imagine that they can learn something and be interesting and wealthy as well.

Want to getmoney from an old wealthy couple? Want to rent places without people checking your credit? Want to date a model? Want to hang out with artists and entrepreneurs? Then just try a little.

I feel like a Thai Lopez LARP but it's fucking real. You don't have to be a douche or a cuck but it's fun to understand culture and participate and reap the rewards from it.

I’ve worked on cars a lot when I was in school and through my experiences most of the old ones (1980’s-early 2000’s) are actually very safe! Obviously there’s a limit to what safety features can do and at some point you the driver must take the proper measures to try and prevent the severe accidents from happening, so don’t be a shitty driver.
