Richfag here. I have 5,353,530 dollars and I am here to tell all of you gentlemen that being rich does not mean anything. You will still be a slave to your own business and have to work at it 24/7 and work so hard until you wake up one day and you are like shit I am rich. In conclusion, You guys should just do whatever makes you happy forget chasing riches it will not make you happy.

lel, I don't want to be rich just for the sake of it, I want to do things with that money, the best way to influence the world is:
1. you become such an inspirational figure
2. you get rich.
option 2 is the easier.

Except you could easily sock that money into an index fund and be completely free to do whatever you want 24/7

They dont call it wage slavery for nothing

Im not ignorant of the law of impermanence of all form but it would sure be a lot easier to go on meditatipn retreats without the 9 to 5 grind

>> No.778938

I know you're making it up OP but for the sake of discussing this we'll pretend you actually have as much money as you say you do.

If you drop 5.3 million dollars into an index fund, you're making a *very* safe $95,000 a year. That's assuming 8% annual returns (lower than what it usually is) and only 3% withdrawal rate (also less than what you could be taking out). That's almost a hundred fucking thousand dollars a year, after tax, in your fucking pocket.

And you're telling me that with 1) literally as much free time as you want (because you wouldn't be working) and 2) a hundred grand a year, you don't think you could be happy?

You're a fuckwit. You don't deserve that money. Give it to me. I'll turn it into 50 million dollars in less than 5 years and I'll have more fun and live a better life than you ever could.

I have a few million myself, still not very happy. I hate people. I don't want to sound euphoric but I feel like my intelligence makes me isolate myself. Of course it would be a lot worse if I was poor, I would probably kill myself.

I just turned 21 so I got my 100 euro raise. It's about 800 euro/month, + 100 healthcare support + 150 housing support.

I also got my holiday allowance last month which is about 70% of your monthly welfare.

I won't even begin about my 25k a year which I'm supposed to spend on life coaches and shit.

Besides having money to do things

i would make it my goal to better the world.

>Limitless drug with no side effects. (3 million dollar large sum payment to first person who does it)
>Enjoy the earth while it still lasts.

Thats what i'd do.

Why do some people with money say this, again?

You're telling me that if I could start a family, take care of the kids, fix up a house, go on trips abroad whenever I wanted and so on, I wouldn't be happy?

Bullshit. My bar for being content is rather low. All I need is not to be fucking stressed, and know that my future is secure. If I had lots of money, I would just sit back and enjoy life.

I'd do more research but I would just find relatively safe dividend funds. I use SPFF to hold my cash that'll have to pay taxes on. Relatively safe but trending down right now. Pays decent monthly dividends.

So let's do the math.

5,353,530 / 14.32 (share price) = 373,849 shares

373,849 * 0.0825 = $30,842.54 monthly income

Probably wouldn't be able to fill an order that large but that's just for scale.

Say that to my great uncle. He lives in the neighborhood on the north side of the Golden Gate bridge in a super fucking nice house and owns something like 20 rental units near Arizona State University. He only "works" a couple weeks out of the year, and most of that consists of hanging out with me and my family and a few days of fixing up units between tenants.

He's one of the most knowledgeable, friendly people I've ever met. He's absolutely fascinating to talk to, because he spends so much time learning about whatever he wants. And yes, I've asked him if his money makes him happy. His reply was something along the lines of "Money by itself is worthless. What it does is allow you to pursue the things you want to pursue, and yes, that makes me very happy. I haven't had more than one 'bad day' in a row in about 20 years."

I want to travel. And I don't mean "oh, wouldn't it be nice to go to Europe this summer?"

I mean that I've never left a 200 mile radius from my home, I'm 26, and I finally have a positive net worth. I'll be working another 2-5 years to afford a home, then another 2 to save up proper funding to do my first trip. This is assuming I don't pay for a wedding or have kids.

My life doesn't have room for active enjoyment.
