Which is exactly why there was such a bullish hammer to smart money once it went under the 200 day moving average.That wasn't emotional stupid money that bought at the top.

That was smart money that bought in 2016 or smart money that sold near the top - money that knew it was a 50:50 it either:

1. Goes a few $1k lower from there.
2. It starts the next bull run up to $100k.

If you had those odds as an option which would you pick - especially for an asset which is inevitably going to go higher than the price you're paying for it now...

I'm not saying TA is a crystal ball or even anything better than simply the basest patterns and some self-fulfilling prophecy.

It is after all simply a measure of historical sentiment. You should discern from it only something that informs your understanding of current and future sentiment and your taking into account what's systemic and external to it - which is really hard unless you know at least the extent of what you don't. After that it's a risk vs reward situation and your appetite for both. There wouldn't be any money in it if you knew for certain what's going to happen it's a market's job to price it in.

The way I see it people obsess too much over catching the bottom and let things fly. If your last buy in price was 4K, then maybe you can accept that 6K some months later is not such a bad deal and that was the bottom this time. Maybe we'll still see 4K this year, but it really isn't set in stone it has to happen, so try to get an entry that won't leave you with regrets, don't expect to nail it, because you don't need to.
