Popular brokers for stock trading:
Robinhood
>commission free and no minimum to open
http://www.robinhood.com

> How is it free?
Robinhood earns revenue by collecting interest on cash/securities and fees from their Robinhood Gold service

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

Interactive Brokers
>$1 commission per 100 shares. $10k minimum to open, $3k if 25 or under. Lowest margin interest.

TD Ameritade
>$6.95 commission per trade. No minimum to open. Fantastic data/charting through their free ThinkorSwim service

Saxobank is the only broker that will accept me. Krauts don't open trading accounts for Americans for some dumb reason, basically they're compliance pussies.

I tried Schwab, but international account requires 25k minimum, and I don't have that kinda cash.

Saxo will take you with open arms, the minimum is actually 2000, but if that's too much for you, you should be thinking about saving, and not investing.

Saxo ain't perfect though, they charge 15 fucking dollars per trade. My account is also hella glitchy, when I try adding stop orders, it kinda freezes, same if I try to close a position. I'm just curious, has anyone else had this kind of trouble?

If you really only have $100 to work with, you're better off throwing it into sub-$5 low float stocks near 6 month lows and selling them with then spike, and slowly compounding your gains. It's also a good way to learn how to trade.

BGFV is undervalued as fuck. Do i think it's a moon shot? no. Do i think your whole portfolio should be in it? no

Do i think people that aren't in it should wait till after earnings to buy? yes

It's a value play to buy and hold. Its a 3-6 month hold and i've been saying this since mid-late december.

The XIV is an exchange-traded note that gave investors, roughly speaking, negative 1 times the return on the CBOE Volatility Index (the VIX) each day. One complaint about the XIV is just, you know, it is complicated, there are formulas in the prospectus, etc. Another complaint is that its complication might have caused it to blow up. Actually "might" is too weak a word; as Charles Forelle pointed out, the prospectus says, bold and underlined, that "the long term expected value of your ETNs is zero." Even if the VIX goes down, the XIV -- which is a bet on the VIX going down! -- will also lose money over time. If you bought XIV to bet on vol going down, and vol went down, and you lost money anyway, you might be aggrieved. "What a complicated product," you might complain, correctly, even though you were warned.

But what actually happened is that on Monday the VIX went up by 116 percent, and the XIV went down by 93 percent, and Credit Suisse AG, XIV's sponsor, announced that it would usher XIV off into the great financial-products heaven. If you bought XIV to bet on vol going down, and vol more than doubled in a day, then you get up from the table, you shake everyone's hand, you say "well played XIV," and you walk away with dignity. You did that! That's on you. Perhaps you didn't understand the intricacies of the formulas in the prospectus, but the intricacies of the formulas didn't matter. You made a bet on the VIX going down, the VIX went up by 116 percent, you lost. That is that.

i really don't think you understand how trading OTC works.

The trading is thin, it either takes off or it doesn't. You don't just buy and hold it. You buy a setup that works, it either takes off or it doesn't if you hold it too long you could end up at 0 hopefully people that decide to play any of these OTC plays understand this.

You can however find people who are not happy about it. Reddit and ZeroHedge are full of them. "Money kept pouring into the ETF but it’s a dangerous product that most people didn’t understand," one of them complained to the Wall Street Journal. Another emailed me to say that "a lot of people literally had no idea how the fund mechanics worked since we didn't read the prospectus and were lured in by the 182% returns," which I found baffling: The only part of the fund mechanics you needed to understand, as it turned out, was that if the VIX doubles in a day then you will lose all your money. But he replied:

>When you put it like that, yes it sounds incredibly stupid, and we clearly didn't understand the risks. The context is that XIV was just printing money. Why would you think you could lose everything if you had just almost tripled your money in a year?

That's why! "Why would you think you could lose everything if you had made 4 percent a year for five years," fine, I will allow it. But if you tripled your money in a year, that was the tell. I try not to give investment advice around here but I will say that, in my personal account, if I had just learned about a financial index five minutes ago from Investopedia, my immediate next move would not necessarily be to make levered bets on that index. Not that that is what anyone is doing or anything. I just worry.

I only have ~2,700USD in the market right now, been waiting for a correction to really put any money in. But, this whole dip really only set me back two months...

Im against investing in AMRS and these shills ignore the dilution to come and want to shrug it off as if it isn't important.

Even though i'm against "investing" in AMRS most people can't deny that it's consolidating nicely around $5 and has a huge gap to fill and could make a good trade in the short term.

The O/S has raised from 42m to over 43m in the past week, when i first did my DD on it a few months ago it was under 40m but the float has remained the same about 27m this raise in O/S count tells me people are loading up on the conversions and are going to want to dump, if they have been converting around $5 they are going to want to wait for stock to run up in order to have more liquidity. If float starts growing before a significant run up it'll be bad news, if float remains the same while it's running up and O/S is rising it would make a good short term trade and thats about it.

First sell off on the recovery bounce started earlier this morning coming off a decent gap up on open prices. Everything looks pretty normal with no absurd flash drops going on. Satisfactory behaviour on all the big LPs. Government continues to maintain they are on schedule for summer legalisation with Public Health minister Goodale doing an interview on BNN this morning saying they're committed to the timeline.

I'd like to see a close anywhere between -5% and 0% on the big LPs today for continuation of bullish trend.
