it's a long story.
To keep it short, I stopped doing math after algebra II in high school.

I wanted to do EE, but just to /start/ the pre reqs for the major, I'd have to take College Algebra, Trig, Precalc, Calc 1, Calc 2, Calc 3, Physics 1, Physics 2, and Physics 3
It would've taken me 6-7 years to get the EE degree.

My backup was Computer Science. Luck would have it that it's in the same department as EE at the college I'm looking at, meaning I'd have the same prerequisites. It'd take slightly shorter though, at 5-6 years.

So now I'm on plan C, get a BS in Information Technology with a Networking and Cyber security specialization, start building a programming portfolio, and start taking night classes for CompSci when I get a career job.

Oh, I would've been more interested answering questions related to personal accounting, but sure:

Some shitty 3 year "degree", I work for a company that rakes in $70m a year (and got a new $91 mil contract with the city's public transit), I do all the payables and half the payroll (and a chunk of the reconciliation), I make $40k (CAD) and it's my first accounting job. I think most account jobs in the province start at high 20ks or low 30ks so I guess I got lucky, considering I had no prior experience.

>>7236387
It's always better to keep a perfect record in an Excel sheet and have your employer auto-deduct it (or yourself). I for instance have an investment income of $5k annually and I found the tax rate for that (20.05%) and I divide the annual tax my annual pay periods (24) to be automatically deducted from my payroll so I don't have to bother with it at the end of the year. That's the best option if you know for sure what it will be, but if it's volatile, file it yourself and find the appropriate slip (T5 form in my case).

your most valuable skill is the ability to learn and relearn what you've already learned.

my first year in the job, I was thinking about a lecture from a year ago, and suddenly the concepts of bandpass vs low/high pass made sense.
I didn't even use any of that stuff in my job.

Can confirm Pharmacy is a good route. There’s a lot of memorization but tests are usually close together so you’re not as likely to forget things. That and everything ties together toward the end so your knowledge compounds. Ton of organic and biochem as in you’d have to know the basics of what a compound would do based on functional groups. Other than that, the job is all quality assurance. You’re generally managing techs and providing the final word and explaining use to patients. If you don’t like retail like a CVS you can work in a hospital where it’s generally laid back. And if you don’t even like being a pharmacist you can go do research for a pharmaceutical company.

I currently have a job as an iOS developer that’s pretty lax and really not to mentally demanding ( most software development is pretty easy desu unless you’re being swamped by stupid deadlines) Jobs that ACTUALLY use the theoretical stuff I’m learning in grad school are very hard to find. ( machine learning neural networks genetic algorithms metaheuristics optimisation ) and competition is pretty extreme for them. Ultimately I don’t even know how if it’s even worth it to be a Data scientist considering mobile development can pay decently and hell you could probably get into that even without a degree. The things I’ve written probably applies for almost all EU countries.

I see very very few jobs actually demanding skills in ML deep learning and all the other CS stuff.

The job market is mostly web dev (backend or front end) and mobile. Also there’s HW stuff if you like low level languages. The EU is kind of behind the USA when it comes to software though. The top of the top CS guys at my school got jobs at Google and Facebook though so it is possible but the competition is pretty hefty.

The USA has more of these jobs available I believe since the EU is kinda lagging behind when it comes to software.

But like I already said I’m fine being s mobile dev it pays decently and the job isn’t stressful.

The general rule is that the USA has unmatched wages when it comes to software jobs. I wouldn’t mind immigrating to the US but it’s a pretty difficult process.

I’ve heard the working culture can be pretty brutal in the US though compared to here in Europe. Stuff like unpaid overtime and no vacation days.

In Germany for example it’s mandated by law that your employer has to give you a minimum of 4 weeks vacation (lots of good companies offer 6) you are guaranteed 6 weeks of paid sick leave etc. But you’re also looking at wages of around 50k ish euros before taxes (and the taxes in Germany are pretty big compared to the US)

Croatia is similar except the wages are even shittier here because we are a shitty ex communist nation. (but the cost of living is also low so my living standard isn’t THAT bad)

Your option might be to try to get employed at multinationals like Google Amazon M$ in their European headquarters. They generally pay better than the local firms and yet you still get be perks of a lax European work to life balance.

And thanks. I made a lot of mistakes cuz I’m typing in mobile :——-DD

I'm taking economics, and so should you.

I mean, it's a no-brainer. You've got experience with currency markets, you have a base understanding of how markets work, you can read data, if there's a well paying job open, and there's always well-paying jobs in finance, you're basically a shoe-in.
I mean, come on anon. Do you really think you're going to be an aerospace engineer? We both know that's not going to happen.

1) out of a class of 15 there were 2 white australians. First warning sign.

2) the rest were pajeets and malaysians. Which, if you read between the lines, indicates that outsourcing in the asia pacific albiet the rest of the word will go to shit tier countries.

3) they had hardcore recruitment drives but only the whities were offered extra curriculur courses on management. Final straw for me, meant I would have to live in said shit tier countries to manage the incompetent fucking retards who have next to nil logic and have to be hand held through every single process.

Warning to anyone looking to move into ANY industry. Can shit skins do your job? If so and you still want to proceed. Be prepared to do extra HR management courses including safety officer courses. You will go straight into management making sure the incompetent shits dont kill themselves or anyone else unfortunate enough to have to work for them.

> Chemical Engineer in O&G here

Not a bad list. Just a few changes:

1) Aerospace engineer should not be unbelievable tier. I have 3 close friends who majored in aerospace engineering:
* 1 went to Boeing and was incredibly bored, did a coding school, and switched to programming at Amazon
* 1 started working for NASA, low pay, ended up going to law school for patent law
* 1 ended up at Lockheed Martin. She's now a supply chain manager there. I wouldn't rate her job as great, let alone god or unbelievable tier.

Not saying it's all that bad but I don't buy that "muh SpaceX" shit.

2) Finance should potentially be higher. My friends who broke into PE after business school are ballin. Their jobs are way less interesting than mine, but they're ballers nonetheless.

3) Biology and biochemistry with no medical school should go into shit tier. All you're gonna get is some desi hitting you up for 17/hr to wash glassware with no benefits. All my bio friends got cucked. Some ended up paying for masters and working at Pfizer, Medtronic, etc but they're all broke losers.

There's no definitive scale, kids. I know double Es who hate the fuck out of their Intel jobs, "chemE's" who are nothing more than glorified Quality Techns, MechEs CAD monkeys stuck in cubicles doing, unemployed PetEs cursing the mussies, broketier cityfags who studied CivilE, and an uncountable number of all of the above stuck in management positions stroking the cocks of their superiors in meetings all day.

And almost all of these above went to ivy league schools. I don't believe in tiers necessarily for majors. For example, I thought that I needed to nest myself in the highest tier (Computer Engineering) because all my friends were getting scooped by Google, Snapchat, Amazon and starting out at 100k... I enjoyed coding but I really couldn't stand doing it all day. So tiers are more of a rough guide than a formula to life. Only you can know what's top tier for you.

Both electrocuted and dead instantly. No one found out for a couple hours till an all clear for water activity was issued. We pulled them out by the umbilicals.
I fucking kid you not, two shitskins wo helped pull their mates out crying like bitches did the exact same thing a week later. I quit after that and still havent been paid and I have just had my name cleared from that fiasco.

It may not seem like you have a lot of opportunities at first glance, but think anon. Are there any relatives who could set you up with an entry-level position? Any friends parents that run a local business?
Seriously, pretend you need to find some kind of employment (that isn't fast food) before march, or you'll die. Who would you talk to? Where would you go? Explore those outlets sooner rather than later. Nobody's first job is gonna be glamorous (particularly without a degree, not that it matters much these days), but what you need now more than anything is experience.

Was there anything you particularly liked in HS? Or just a hobby you're particularly fond of? Not saying you can necessarily get a job in playing Magic, but what is it about those activities drew you to them in the first place? Even better if it's something you're good at.

Actuarial Financial Mathematics reporting in. In Fourth year university right now, and I couldn't love this degree more. Sure, it takes a bit of brainpower to get through the math in years 1-3, but fourth year is a lot more technical and specific to finance, at least it was at my University. The Actuary job market is blowing up in the United States and Canada, more actuaries are needed than ever before.

A lot of employment comparing sites say Actuary is at or very near the top; stress is low, hours are ok (unless you want to bust your ass and reach the top), and the pay is amazing mid/late stage. You need to pass a set of 7 finance related exams for the Society of Actuaries, they're rigorous and grueling, but most companies pay for you to take time off to study for them, then give you a raise after you pass them.

TLDR AFM is a fucking amazing degree if you got the IQ for it. Lots of work to be done, lots of reward.
