Whenever something becomes mainstream without having academic cloud, it gets dragged into a quagmire and will be watered down. It might be my pessismism, but I think in a couple years time, if the current trajectory continues, the Alt Right will almost indistinguishable from ordinary conservatism. Basically, it will be watered down so much, that it's acceptable to the establishment. "Populist nationalism" essentially, akin to the halfbaked nonsense of the (current) Front National or similar parties in Europe, if even that.
