I got in with a degree in econ and a minor in math, but really I got in because I was highly proficient in Excel and had a passion for the energy industry more broadly.

Started out doing excel-modeling work for a couple different small renewables consulting shops who hired me through a program to place recent grads in energy industry jobs. Impressed the second one who kept me on for another 2 years after the initial 3 months. But there is a reason behind it: reputable place, high tickets prices but not high enough to discourage everyday people to come here for a bday/anniversary, not sacrificing quality, good location, owner/manager being hands on (saves a lot of labor cost and we benefit from it),and a lot of senior staff. Also, this type of bartending is preferred because one truly begins to understand the hidden craft of pairings, it’s semi-formal so you get wealthy regulars or everyday people coming out for an occasion, guests behave, and can’t tell you the last time I was home past 11:30pm.

I got involved with landscaping architecture because years of bartending can be emotionally/socially exhausting, knowing for sure what you are making every week, more long term progression, and when looking at it, feels like I am doing something better for the world.
