They eventually suspended my seller abilities because I got hit with several scammers in a small window, but even if they had not, I was done selling on ebay. Unless they changed their billing structure between the Paypal fees, final auction value fees, listing fees, and forced free shipping if I wasn’t selling an item at close to 100% markup I was only making a couple of bucks per listing, all which could be wiped away by one asshole scamming me for one listing.

Has anyone here bothered to convert eBay sales to their own website and was it worth it? I'm considering doing it but I'm not really sure if it's worth the trouble of managing a website, syncing products and prices and dealing with disputes through Shopify, at least with eBay I already know how buyers can fuck you over.

yea easily replaceable, modern in demand cards that sell for a decent margin (20%-100%+) and as little of your time is the perfect cheat code around this. not saying I'm selling out of cards every day and restocking every day, that's not the volume of my business. I do get a few orders most days though, although they're usually 1-2 cards or 10-15 cards.

desu I haven't pulled any money out, I've only put money in to buy more and more sealed to hold long term and raw product to sell immediately. however I will say most of the money I've invested into sealed product has gone up 3-8x in value, but it's been 3+ years now since I purchased most of them so that's why. the sets are out of print and only getting older. maybe this is the year the business can sustain itself and won't need outside investment $$ from me (hahahhahah)

well of course, you have to import foreign product yourself if you want to get the lowest reasonable entry price. you can't avoid middlemen, even my product goes through 2-3 layers of middlemen before I get it.

I bought out a small (then Standard) collection around 2019 and have been slowly piecing it out. I offered bulk prices (eg $X per 1000 cards, rares under $5 bulk) and 0.40-0.60 per rare. I had like 4-6 copies of some cards that you only get one of from Commander decks. So I think it was someone that got bored with the game, stole a bunch of shit from Walmart, and then cashed out. Works fine for me, I've made about 4-5x what I paid over time.

Also I only sell to Canada, since I'm not comfortable enough with international shipping yet. Otherwise, if I were to take it more seriously, I could set up a better inventory management system, sell to the US, and aggressively buy/piece out collections

What about customs/borders fees, are those paid by the buyer or do I have to worry about those?
