My wife planned our trip and she nailed it. Felt relaxed while also hitting every single ride we wanted and some fun planned meals and my kids were ecstatic the whole time. Kids are easy to please there, in fairness. Genie pass is fucking mandatory, I don’t know how people go without it. Also we stayed at a mid budget Disney hotel which was fine but as we hardly spent any time there I may consider downgrading in the future. We rented a car for convenience, I might skip that because the buses seemed to come a lot and a couple of times we took the bus anyway.

I think what I find subtly unnerving here is that a trip to Disney is supposed to be for the kids. It's supposed to revolve around making sure that the kids have a good time. Instead the impression that I got was that the trip was choreographed around the mom's social media presentation of their trip to Disney. The childlike joy and wonder of going someplace like this is subtly displaced by something darker in the form of the mother's need for social validation. When I went to Disney as a kid I didn't realize that my parents were basically doing it for me. As an adult I recognize that though. What's deeply fucking unsettling is that the driving factor here really feels like this lady's need to manufacture her social media appearance.
