Whining about it won’t get you your money back. Don’t do options if you can’t handle the volatility or make sound decisions about your entry points

So what would you suggest I do now? I'm down 500 bucks all time. Started trading mid November.
Down 700 bucks if counting options alone.

How do I ignore these two facts, and still get rich with the measly amount I have? (17k)

Well I don't increase the amount I gamble with obviously, so far I haven't ever spent more than 500 bucks on an option. So there's not really recursion there, my hope is basically that one option strikes and I'll be in the green again. All I need is one measly 300% on 300 bucks and that's it

I have a weird way of looking at it which is I try to achieve at least .25% daily compounding total portfolio growth, this works out to about an 87% yearly return. I then enter all my options trades at strike/expiries that I think should achieve this rate. As a whole I’ve outperformed my targets but during downtrends these returns can vary wildly and it’s not uncommon for my entire portfolio to swing 10-20% in either direction in a given week

Insurance premiums are already forcing most western container ships to route around Africa instead. Good for eating up spare capacity that was weighing the stocks down, not so good for inflation.

I managed to not be liquidated, but didn't see a good way out and I had to pay interest daily, so I exited with a loss of around 5k, when my networth was less than 50. I'm just waiting for long duration treasuries to spike up above the FED funds, because: government spending is very high and the treasury is issuing them like there's no tomorrow, less buying of treasuries by foreign governments , economy is hot, inflation is creeping back in etc... many different reasons for bonds to keep selling off and yields to rise. The debt bubble is the largest off them all.

have you tried looking at the DXY before making a bet?
https://www.marketwatch.com/investing/index/dxy
that chart basically topped out around Oct 2023 and signaled incoming dollar weakness going into Nov-Dec. but of course i wasn't paying attention and this could just be hindsight bias.

also cross-reference with sqqq chart:
https://finviz.com/quote.ashx?t=SQQQ&p=d

and then finally, zooming out and checking SPY against the SMAs
https://finviz.com/quote.ashx?t=SPY&ty=c&ta=1&p=m

(it was supported by sma-50, it was a sell any time it was too high above the sma-20). its now about to test the 2022 high of 480.

had i done all of the above and hyper-focused in 2023, i'd be lounging in a vegas hot tub right now with a sexy lady on the bed.

don't know how much rates will be going down by, maybe. also don't know how much toxic debt banks are holding which can blow-up and cause another crisis like last year. next earnings cycle will be interesting. feels like the consoomer is tapped out and retail spending was lower this holiday season. more funds being focused on food/necessities. stocks already at highs, would you wanna keep buying at such highs?

zillow looks cheap if you zoom out.

the time factor is what makes options incredibly difficult as opposed to just shorting or going long. if i can do everything over again i would have two portfolios in two separate accounts, one long and one short. of course it would've been more of a pain in the ass in situations where i would need all funds accessible in one account to dca down but then again i should have enough $ in one bank acct to keep adding more, and have a long enough time horizon to not rush into buying or shorting more.

with options, just waking up late one day can fuck everything up. it's basically turbo-gambling. worse than crypto. but with options there's 10x, 20x opportunties every day, every week. believe it or not i just saw a 10x move in MCD between that tight little 287-290 just last week and was kicking myself for missing it.
