I feel so bad for zoomers because they were never properly socialized. Everybody else is doing relatively fine in regards to social groups. Say what you will about millenials, at least they have in person social groups. Zoomers were so poorly socialized as kids that they can't even make in person friendships. They can't get jobs, they can't buy property, their brains are pretty much ruined from being 100% connected to the internet at all times so they can't learn anything meaningful, and the worst thing is they can't create in person connections. It's rather sad. I feel for you guys, but honestly it isn't society that's falling apart, it's just that you guys missed out on the chance to make life long social groups.

My /biz/ frens are all I need. But really you're right, friends are important. We're spending all our time on the internet and the offline world is suffering for it. Just watch the New Years ball drop, where the whole crowd had their phones out recording instead of just celebrating and enjoying the moment.

I don't see how we can go back though, the internet won't go away. We just need to find a better way to encourage offline lives on top of it. Or totally give in to the Matrix, but make the internet a more fulfilling virtual experience. Sucks just staring at screens and hurting your eyes.

>just get off the internet
I do, I barely even carry a phone with me. But the offline world isn't the same. Sometimes it feels like a sterile imitation of what it used to be. Plus fewer places like arcades to just hang out at.

Maybe we should all join clubs or do sports. That kind of thing is still fine, better than before even. Martial arts for example has improved massively since the 20th century. Get in shape and find a community. Maybe some activity with more women involved, like dancing, if you want to meet a future wife.

You're right, things always changed and the 1940s weren't like the 1860s either. The introduction of television and cars changed things too, and I'm sure the world of the 90s seemed bizarre to my grandparents. But I'm not sure you appreciate just how large and fundamental a shift the internet is. It's changed the way people live and interact daily more than anything before. The issue too is that this shift happened so quickly.

No arcades weren't going to last forever, but they were nice and I wish people still hung out more outside their homes doing something. Even holidays like Halloween, kids don't seem to be going out as much. And it sickened me a bit that so few of them had the balls to sneak out and break Covid curfews.

Literally just make every wage a living wage. Go back to a standard of life where working a single job could support a family, and every single facet of life wasn't a capitalist booby trap looking to nickel and dime you to the fucking grave.

The problem isn't the internet; the problem is that real life has become so tiresome and unrewarding that the internet is a viable alternative for people looking to interact and generate a sense of worth. I work full time and have a good amount of savings built up, but even I'm aware of how unstable everything is. Even just the ridiculous corporate price hikes of the last few years have got me pinching pennies more than I'd like to, lest I see my retirement nest egg slowly dwindle. It's tiresome. If I were more financially comfortable, you think i'd even fucking be here? Hell no. I'd be going out to dinner every night and taking vacations every fucking weekend.
