not even close, 2017 was such a mindbending pump. 2021 paled in comparison. 2013 was the most impressive I saw personally but it was also localized to btc, alts weren't really a thing then. 2017 was the birth of alts in the mainstream and plummeting of bitcoin dom

2017 was much more intense. Listings meant a lot. ICOs blasted off as soon as they launched. But there were also very deep dips. Remember when ETH crashed 99.99% in 3 seconds due to a waterfall of stop-loss orders. There was also a lot of talk about BTC vs BCH, seg-wit and all that. Honestly the intensity and how big it got shocked everyone, I didn’t see it coming at all. Invested in ETH at $7 when coinbase first registered it and thought it would never get beyond 100

This is nothing like 2017. I remember a stretch of 3-4 weeks where you could buy anything and it might go up double digits for multiple days at a time. It didn't matter if it was a more established project or some ICO shitcoin. I bought XRP at $1 and sold it less than a week later at over $3. Early 2017 was insane.
ETH went from $15 to $50 and I thought I'd already missed a huge opportunity.
Then everything started doing x5s and x10s everywhere, with x100s+ littered in.

I had some ark, pivx, nexus, and a whole bunch of other coins on bittrex and they ALL pumped (in sat value, and BTC itself was already really high, but hadn't started going up yet).

Then coins Ra1bl0cks/NAN0 and Ant5har3s/NE0 went thru the roof.
All you learned during that time was that taking profits was stupid because everything just keeps going up more.

BTC was like $1-2k then... then it shot up straight to 20k quite a bit later on.
2017 was just something else

>>57108584

After that visited biz sometimes when I remembered that place. Got more active in 2020 summer. Was one of the lucky ones who bought rubic near the 0.01$ mark. Made 50x and looked my money disappearing in 2021 summer. Sold some to buy memecoins and watched the other half disappearing in 2021 summer. Sold at the complete bottom. i was here in 2017. All the other oldfags are on point; it was an amazing time. I remember buying a few hundred eth at <$10 and just imagining what it would be like if it goes to 100, then seeing it eventually cross 1000 and just not having the slightest clue on whether to sell or keep holding. It was so surreal
Now the value is more "defined". The crypto space feels more normalized and more correctly priced. The spikes up or down of 5 or 10% are just so mundane in comparison. Back in 2017 any drastic move felt like an absolute rollercoaster because no one had any fking clue as to what the real value of this stuff is or how to even price it correctly so any move could have been the start of the next bull run or the ride to $0. Both were absolutely real options.
Now everyone looks at BTC and goes....yea, it's prob worth somewhere around 100k-300k and they all take it as a given that in reality its def not worth $0. Back in 2017 you might as well answered "pineapple" to a question of it's value and even more so something like eth or link. No one had any clue and that made it so incredibly exciting.
Now there are many other valuable coins...eth, avax, link, rose...the obvious marked coins that are going to make it and a lot of the charm of trying to even speculate what they are going to be worth is gone because everyone has a sort of rough estimate on the valuation. Back in 2017 there was no rough estimate....pineapple was an equally good answer. It was the wildest of times, it was the best of times. I will remember and treasure it.

no, it feels like this is a cope pump based on "mainstream adoption". basically another wave of new and returning longs due to the ftx case being finalized with actual penalty for the scammer. had he gotten away scot-free and had the Fed not pivoted towards rate cuts, it would be a completely bearish into end of year. now that it's clear various govt's don't care to over-regulate crypto, it's pumping. the XRP settlement should have been an early indicator mid-year. if you didn't start buying around that time you missed out. SOL did a 10x from Jan 2023 - now, and you can see it starting to top out.

This, I was thinking about buying Bitcoin when its price was in the single digits. When I looked deeper into it, I wondered who would us that for payments, that shit is too complicated, also I didn't find a sure way to buy Bitcoin in a fully safe private way. So I saw no reason to buy it. Then it took off and it was already "too expensive" for me to get in. The market was different then, mainly there wasn't so much attention paid to cryptoshit like there is now. There was a decent sense of being ahead of the money. I guess you still can feel that way but you're always knowing
>normies aren't blind anymore
>institutions and governments aren't either
>the market is pretty huge and the big boom days are probably done
I mean you'll get solid growth in excess of the benchmark but you can pretty much forget about the gigabags, unless you draw them from the absolute extrema.
In 2017 I was waking up every day to another 20% up, I never imagined it would go as high as it did, I figured $10k was the pie in the sky max price but we just soared through it like it was nothing.
On alts, I never really liked them, everyone made money in the ICO boom but I won't speak much to it because that was always gambling to gain sats in my eyes.
>>57108252
I would mention this though, something you need to monitor, is that everyone thinks btc is too hot early and mid cycle merely because they're not accustomed to numbers going up.
Mostly what you see in tradfi is always [0,100%] but btc will do that 4 or 5 times in this cycle easily. Yeah I remember all the doomers at each step in that staircase. I believe the bearish sentiment now is making the same mistake.

>> No.57122600

It was magical. Binance had no kyc and you could just print money by buying the red tickers and selling them when green the next day. You could arbitrage across half a dozen kyc free exchanges because the price swings were so dramatic. It lasted about 6 months and then the bottom fell out.

>> No.57122621

I actually have legit bearish sentiment right now because there is no "Angle" every boom cycle had an angle attached to it. ICO/Dapps in 2017, NFTs and Metaverse in 2021. But what is the 'next big thing' in 2024? There is no narrative and without a new narrative to sell I don't see this going any farther than maybe $75,000 BTC

>> No.57122880

>>57122621
ETFs I guess? I never put much in the narratives, to me it was always simply halvings and global M2, I see it as inverse fiat but I get what you're saying. I see $150k btc for this cycle.

>>57108238
2017 was mindbreaking. You could grab any alt and easily do a 2x the day after. Imaging buying eth today at $2k and then it reached $20k, a similar thing people felt when that happened to btc in 2017. 2017 was the true alt season, after BTC consolidated at around 15-18k

The 2014 rally was crazier too, but as many said, it was limited to BTC and LTC. The 2021 bullrun was hot garbage in comparison, mostly because BTC did a measly 3x from it's previous ATH, and then the alt season was aborted by institutions using their own research labs as lenders and their own coins as collateral, to borrow more of their coins and inflate the price. Also shit dog tokens took over, shilled by tg pajeets looking to feed their village, so now the whole space is polluted with institutional adoption, manipulation and meme tokens.

The current consolidation phase isn’t over yet and will end when BTC hits $12k-$10k. After that, it will slowly climb to $100k. This year, retards who are absolutely late to the party gave BTC another redundant pump. It‘s okay to start DCAing into Bitcoin now but were certainly not at a local bottom. I wonder if another Blackswan event will make the Satoshi millionaire meme real sooner than expected, but this is wishful thinking.
