Is it worth getting credit cards for points or is it a waste of time (low ROI)?

I have that card specifically because I am a med supremacist and it looks cool as fuck, who gives a shit about the points

If you are able to fully pay your balance every month no matter what, travel a lot and use miles/hotel perks frequently, and have the inclination to keep up on latest deals and cycle through cards for latest bonuses and signup offers, there is a lot of value. It’s basically free money for high spenders. If you miss like one payment though and get charged interest all the value you got is down the drain so pay your shit on time.

I do ones with good intro offers and long 0% APR intro rates.
Free money is very valuable.

I have had it for a year hoarding points like a dragon hoarding gold. It should be worth about 1k minimum in points there.

My fees were $250 yearly. I’m hoping to call when it hits a second time a get it waved. As far as the benefits I have used the $10 monthly Uber credit 4 times and I have clipped rewards saving me a total of $15. $10 at a Chevys restaurant and $5 at eBay.

Sounds stupid but the “status symbol” does work and it gets a reaction if anyone knows anything about Amex gold.

I use my CC for everything I can, I save about £500 a year in points. I normally just use it to by Xmas presents. My CC let's me convert the points to Amazon vouchers.

It's definitely worth it as long as you pay it off and don't end up losing any gains in CC debt.

Out of my way crackers, platinum card chad coming through. I don't know shit about the other amex
I never paid attention to the points, I have 46k I thought this was like $46 but this anon has me thinking >>56946624
I use the bennies sometimes but the big reason I got it was the concierge service, which is no longer, it kind of sucks now but it used to pretty baller. $700 annual fee or something, I never paid, I told them I was military when I signed up (waives all annual fees) and they never checked into it.
Big ooo points when you whip it out but honestly I never use it that much because it isn't as widely accepted, and it's ironically embarrassing when it gets declined.
Flexible statement close date is pretty cool, I have it so it's due on the 15th and my other card is the 1st, paid a month ahead therefore I have 6 - 10 weeks of other people's money with no interest. You can disable the "feature" to carry interest bearing balances on the amex but you must pay it fully, like a charge card. Which it is
My other card is a 2% cash back. I prefer the cash back desu, I use it to buy junk. I run virtually all my spending through credit. 800 fico from this
It is possibly worth gaming intro offers and shit but what's definitely worth it is using OPM

Of course it's a good idea. There's literally no downside and it shows lenders that you are a good goy for when you want to start a business.

Just don't be a retard with it and make sure you always pay it off at the end of the month

Speaking from experience, they won't waive your annual fee. They will however give you a retention offer in points.

Depends on your income. If you're poor, you have to be careful. There's a sweet spot income level where you can churn through multiple credit card bonuses for around 10% discount on most spend.
But it's really only a discount if you were already going to travel regularly. Use the points for free trips. Some cards give direct cashback, but there are less and its usually shittier.

Once you make $200k+, signups lose relevance since it's a hassle keeping track opening/closing cards for a few hundred bucks. At this point, it's best to just pick one card with 2% back and forget about it. Maybe add one extra card for 4-5% cashback in specific stores or categories.
If you have more than $100k in savings, I'd also say it becomes more worthwhile to focus spare time on managing investments. At least that was the point where I flipped.

Cashback and those cash bonus cards for spending 500 bucks in the first 3 months or whatever.

Genuinely don't see the point of 'points' unless your 'job'/business is specifically revolving around flying to a foreign country, buying a lot of shit as a tourist, shipping it back to your friend/brother and having them put it on ebay in your country where it's worth 2-3 times as much.

Yes credit cards are good unless you are a retard

Imo get credit cards for the sign up bonuses.
Keep the ones that have good point/cash back rewards
Cancel the ones that don't have anything good after 1 yr
Don't get annual fee credit cards unless you can waive the fee

Hope this helps

How? I’ve never seen a CEX allow the use of a credit card, and as far as I’m aware all credit cards actually have a clause saying you can’t use it for this purpose anyway. Every CEX I’ve used only allows debit or bank transfers.
