What do you mean by that? Networking has never yielded real results for me at all. There are just some circles you can’t access, either because you don’t have the right degree or didn’t go to the right high school or whatever.

You need to set small goals and reach them to gain confidence then use that to make bigger goals. Like if you want to lose weight, don't plan to go to the gym for 3 hours and eat nothing but chicken and rice. You will burn out. It would be something like week 1 just log everything you eat in an app. Week 2 start walking every evening or join a gym and start going a few times a week. Week 3 decrease your average calories eaten by 500. Even if it takes longer, it's better than starting and failing 500 times which will just demoralize you. When you do fail, think about it and try to find out why (failed because I got drunk and ate a lot - ok now I need to stop drinking or decrease the amount so it doesn't happen again).

I use to procrastinate out of a fear of failure. My thinking (subconscious) was that if I studied hard for a test, or started work early, I might not do good, and that would mean I'm a failure. So I would put everything off as long as possible so I would only have a few hours to do a task, then if it wasn't that great I had an excuse. I use to be a heavy drinker and got fat, had no muscle gain at the gym. And I would tell myself "well all these other people are making progress or thin, but I get drunk every night, no way they could keep up with me drinking every night AND going to the gym" and because of that I was dumb enough to feel superior to them even though I was a fat loser.
