The day of the apocoLOLypse has arrived. Anon, feeling a bit hungry after running out of cheetos and monster drank still has a bottle of craft beer and some Domino's pizza crusts left from his preps but wants to flex his wealth amongst the starving idiots who didn't stack. He goes outside and walks for 45 minutes sees devastation all around but no vendors selling chickie tendies no Milfs wanting to sell their daughters. Disappointed he walks on and sees a crowd ahead and smells delicious fried food.... SUCCESS! He waits patiently feeling smug when he sees the price of $600 for a plate of fried rat on a bed of rice because he was right there was hyperflation. He gets to the front of the line pulls out of his box of rocks, a Merc, a Morgan, a golden Krug, a bar and even his precious FRENbucks from MintScamAnon (Premium code FREN) with the funny picture of the $ getting buckbroken by silver and desperately explains that they are real money and that one dime should buy 29 rats plus one virgin. Tyrone the security guard kicks him in the balls and bitch slaps him to the cheers of the starving crowd, his box of rocks spills to the ground and is ignored. Forgotten, he tries to collect his rocks and stumbles home and ropes, still clutching his treasure chest of garbage. His mommy finds his body the next day and throws the rocks in the trash along with the tranime figurines which (not) oddly smelled of feces, keeping the Chinese box for her sons ashes. Turns out anon was on drugs the apocoLOLypse was all in his imagination.

KEK TOP
Remember everyone, $46BN silver and gold market in a $122BN premium grabbing scheme. Pair that with the supply/demand of silver which can easily produce a whopping 1800M worldwide, which is enough to procure 43 pounds for every AMERICAN. Per person on the planet you get a piece of silver roughly the size of an apple, when the demand for silver approaches zero. Look up the famous Mark Dice video. L to the MAO. The global silver system is a PONZI and it requires you to work tirelessly to pay premiums and store your metal in an expensive safe while paying 0 interest and dividends. It hasn't a chance in hell in providing you with the life they promise you. Your insurance, SS, etc are all pools of resources that have already been spent. Finance and accounting can NEVER create wealth on their own, and no amount of finagling will allow you to spend money EIGHTY times. All that the silver-ponzi has left to do is monetize the losses/default. Or in other words, actualize losses. That's why they shill garbage rocks to you 24/7/365. And there is no way to move the losses around on a balance sheet without someone who is not you footing the bill. All they can do is charge exorbitant premiums. And to avoid the losses you have to avoid so called precious metals, including gold, silver and copper,

Suckers rally. Now that BlackRock has their BTC ETF they won't allow the price to make any meaningful gains. And because the rest of the crypto market essentially follows BTC's trends, that'll keep the price of everything else down. They suppress funny internet money numbers on a screen and hard silver and gold. The demand for PMs will always ultimately be higher than crypto, and PMs are far more practical because you don't need BTC to make phones and computers.

There are a few tricks dealing with premiums.
- Buy something that has personal meaning and interest. You'll never sell, so there's no 'loss', and you'll enjoy the piece anyway.
- Speculate on the popularity/rarity and hope for an even higher return on investment over time. For this, you have to take into account for how long the meme will be popular. Things like your zeppelin - that appeal to older folks, who often have the money to spend on interests.
- Obscure but beautiful pieces that are timeless.
- Numismatic coins, though this speculation is subject to the whims of the hobby itself being popular.
- Combinations among all of the above.
I'd recommend at least one piece that you spend too much for that you just admire.

Analysts like Jim Rickards and others have predicted for years that a metals backed reset would have to be done by 2025, his only change in prediction is that the gold reset price went from 10k and ounce in the early years to 15k in recent years.

Then you take into account that its been talked about in the last few years that America and China are preparing for war for 2025 which would suggest that is the year the banking cabal can push it the furthest with this currency system.

I know its hard to track how much silver is out there but does anyone have any info on how much sterling silver has been produced? I'd imagine a portion has been melted down and refined, but I noticed that a lot of the infographics posted don't include sterling silver when calculating total silver supply.

A fact of this physical reality we live in is that there is a mountain of debt floating around on everyone's balance sheets as assets that are basically impossible to pay back without extreme devaluation.
There is no trick that can be done to make $46BN bond market get paid back by a $22TN GDP economy.
It's the ultimate ponzi scheme to where literally everyone is trying to fortify the dam that is about to collapse. No one has any idea how long everyone can keep kicking the can pretending everything is fine when it so simply is not.
Anyone who walks away from the Bernie Madoff ponzi didn't get burned by it. And you do that by locking in your purchasing power on something. ANYTHING. Because these digits we are looking at that represent purchasing power are de-facto bogus. Your house, your pensions, your stocks and bonds and basically everything is worth far less than you think it is. And you can kick and scream until you are red in the face but no one can procure the resources necessary to maintain your current standard of living.
The life-hatch here is that silver is impossibly undervalued in order to suppress commodity prices across the board so inflation does not rear its ugly head until they let the dam burst. The most pathetic thing you will ever see will be paper-millionaires wiped out and crying in the streets when their debt-based wealth implodes and their life's work gets exposed to be a scam.
The people that "owe" you money are going to all be in the same boat. Desperately grabbing onto everything they can. You would do well to nail your furniture to the floor because someone somewhere is going to show up with a piece of paper saying they own your shit. And all across the board people will be handed big fat fucking ZEROS. ZERO POINT ZERO.

GSR proves that silver is historically cheap. And the Dow:Gold ratio has hit 1:1 twice in U.S. history.
This alone shows us the trade of a lifetime to where every time you buy silver you could potentially be locking in the DOW Jones. Imagine buying a kilo of silver and that being the equivalent of the Dow Jones. You are essentially snatched up roughly $30,000 worth of purchasing power today when you buy silver. since then the world population has tripled and billions of people have entered the markets as consumers of silver who never used it before.

Its primary uses are now in electronics, and we're using far more than we did back when silver based photography was a big thing.

production has also gone way up since then. Silver mines are mostly gone, now 70% of silver is byproduct of copper and other base metals. As our demand for copper increases, so does silver production. As copper is depleted, so is silver.

what actually happens is demand outstrips supply.
price goes up
silver mines begin production
production outstrips demand
price falls
silver mines close
prices rise again
mines open again
prices fall again
mines close again

repeat ad nauseum
this is why mining is cyclical. This is why mining companies boom and bust.

but end of the day, even with reduced usage, we will run out of silver at some point and mines will open up to mine it. Eventually we'll run out for the last time and prices will finally moon. Maybe in 30 years, maybe in 75. But we will run out of silver.

in my area it's huge haul trucks the size of a house driving miles into the mountains through highways and tunnels. Then enormous caves big enough to fit an entire city where the silver ore is blown from the ceiling in massive blocks the size of a house. Those chunks are broken up and hauled out in dump trucks also the size of a house.

we call it block cave stoping. We gut entire mountains this way in a matter of a few years.

The main block cave mines I currently work on are molybdenum mines at Climax and Henderson, in Colorado.
Climax isn't currently working underground, but you can still tour parts of the underground block cave workings.

so how it works is you get hired for a job in underground mining. I take you underground and give you a tour of the mine. That's about it. You have to hire on to get the tour. If you hire on, you HAVE TO TAKE THE TOUR.

>trying to figure out how much sterling silver tableware was made - how much has been melted to = remaining quantities
It's pretty much impossible to tell. But i'd wager a majority of the existing silverware have been melted down during the past few decades (80s onward). And not much is being produced nowaday, it's considered an outdated way of savings, and incredibly inefficient too. Back in the days (100 and + years ago i mean), 80% of the price of the silverware was the metal content and 20% the work of the craftman.
Now the ratio are inverted : it's only 20% spot value of the final price and 80% the work of the craftman (often more). Which means even if you manage to sell for spot price, you'll immediately be down -80%.

So if it's not an investment vehicle, the only use left is to enjoy beautiful things and flex on your guests. Problem is modern richfags don't know anything about silverware anymore, so they wont even notice the flex, and the nouveau-riches probably consider it hasbeen and haughty.

Personally, i don't know anybody who own silverware, no matter how old they are. And if my relatives asked to all the people they know, the number would still most likely be zero.
At best some people own silver plated stuff they got for their weddings as gifts and use it for big celebrations, that's it.
Imho brand new silverware became so outrageously expensive lately because the demand is basically non-existent.

It's only my experience, but it's pretty telling i believe. The french hallmark system slightly changed in 1973 : the purity went from .950 to the standard .925 sterling, and the mark itself saw few modifications (numbers and letters positions). Since i started to scrapmax, i now have maybe 18kg of silverware. Among those, i never saw even just ONCE the post-1973 hallmarks.

I can tell plate from sterling by the taste. I just don't care because silver is pleb tier. The food should be worth more than the utensils. And the chef should be worth more than the food.

Pretty sure all the emperors and the kings weren't considered plebeians but ok.
And table dressing used to be a pretty big deal when you spend half your day eating like the aristocracy was doing. All the important decisions were taken around a table before being officialized.
At Versailles silverware was among the largest budget of the court. But of course we weren't mining nearly as much as we do today, so it still had an aura of prestige.

I guess it might be a flex for people that entertain, but I never cook for guests anyways so I don't own any. If I do cook for you (unlikely) my training as a professional cook and my use of esoteric ingredients is all the flex you get.

we'll be eating lion steaks off plastic sporks at my bbq.

Also i've heard from historians one of the big reason silver became less popular is because of electric lights. Electric bulbs produce a totally evenly, cold and standstill light.
While back then, when they were using candles, the yellow and ever-moving light of the flame was dancing all over silver items and it was a splendid sight to behold.

color tells me if it's stainless or silver
weight tells me if it's plate or solid

honestly taste is the same between plate and solid. It's greasy on the mouth and metallic in flavor. Drags a bit on the release, and feels soft to the tooth.

to me stainless is better to eat off of, as is plastic. But silver has a distinct taste and mouth to it.

Very true. I love this sensation. The main issue i have with solid silver is for spoons. First time i used one to eat my soup i burned both my mouth and my fingers after leaving the spoon in the soup for 30 sec. How are you supposed to hold your spoon when the handle become as hot as the liquid lol? Maybe during the cold winters during the middle age it was useful, but not very handy nowaday.
