Hi Pan Man.

Where are the coal fields in Canada, and what's the data on them, like recoverable reserves, BTU per weight, SO2 content etc.?

>> No.56589868

>>56589695
there are a huge number of coal fields found across Canada, most are either sub bituminous or bituminous in nature, though there is a massive amount of lignite coal out there too. Only a few small areas in BC have anthracite coal, near Tumbler Ridge BC. Mount Klappan also has anthracite, but its never going to be mined unfortunately.
Here's some BC provincial info on Coal, i ll see if i can find the USGS / Canadian Federal report for Coal in Canada from 2011, thats got the data your after.

https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/industry/mineral-exploration-mining/british-columbia-geological-survey/geology/coalfields

>> No.56589941

>>56589695
a quick note too, while we have around 6.6 billion tonnes of recoverable coal reserves to work with, coal is slowly being phased out here in Canada. Demand for lignite coal is slowly fading for local power and heating needs, only anthracite coal hasnt seen a serious decrease in production.

>> No.56590334

>we have around 6.6 billion tonnes of recoverable coal reserves to work with
I'm sure Canada has way more coal than that, though I know that's "currently estimated recoverable" reserves. There is probably a wealth of minerals far up north under the ground, including coal, that's not even known as of yet.

>> No.56590358

>Canada’s most significant anthracite deposits are in the Groundhog coalfield of the northwest part of the province. It contains an estimated potential resource of 37 billion tonnes of coal.

37 billion tonnes of anthracite in total "resources"! That's huge. That's like Pennsylvania back in the day.

https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/industry/mineral-exploration-mining/british-columbia-geological-survey/geology/coalfields

>> No.56591258

>>56590368
90% of the coal people see coming down the Coast on trains is from that deposit, its all Met Coal bound for Japan and China. Its incredible how large some of the deposits are, near Tumbler Ridge for example, the outcrops of coal in local river banks can be well over 40m thick. Its interesting to see the Telkwa coal fields listed by the BC gov too, those also have shale gas which could be tapped for energy.

I'd love to see that coal field developed further and used to rebuilt the North American steel industry. We down south have good met coal from southern West Virginia and Alabama.

Someone wants to weigh in on this?
>AISC is $840
>trades at 7.5 times earning
>7.7% of mcap is used per year to pay dividends/buy back stock
>cash pile is 43% of mcap
>all this seemingly accomplished whilst consistently selling less gold than they mine
>gold pile could be well over 200k oz but simply not documented in quarterly/yearly reports.

Looks like Newmont is planning on selling their Cripple Creek mine and a few others after finalizing their buy out of Newcrest.

That is very based. Do you have an opinion on which company has better fundamentals for the price overall? Just trying to get some other people's feedback, as I'm considering moving money from FSM to First Majestic. I've bought a lot of risky investments and paid the price, now I'm trying to consolidate into quality.

>> No.56604225

>>56603997
I wouldn't do that, FSM is ok, AG is shit

>> No.56604294

>>56604225
Yea, I mean I've heard this a lot from people online, but other than the lack of geographical diversification, why is it shit? Half their revenue comes from gold, so you get a more balanced (more stable) company. Also seems to have less debt than FSM. What am I missing?

Thanks either way for the feedback, fren. All anons in this thread will make it.
