Ya it's purpose is host a picture of you, so employer can immediately see if you are hot or not if you are a woman, or if you are autist or not if you are a man.

it's useless. Probably depends on the career though. Has been pretty useless for me.

It's a crappy digital resume and an algorithmic feed of mind-numbing corporate "leadership" babble. It's also somewhat used to build relationships for sales. What more do you need to know?

It's weird. I see some friends taking LinkedIn super seriously, while others don't even have one. I guess it's entirely dependent on your industry. Always a little sad to see friends (who I know are decent people) taking LinkedIn so seriously though, feels very forced and fake. It's fucking cringeworthy.

>> No.56345869

Never used it, never will.

Not doxxing myself on their shit astroturfed platform.

As a software guy I don't have a linkedin account. I used to, ten years ago, because professors at college told me it was the thing everyone has and you have to have one. I didn't get my jobs through it. It has gotten me nothing other than spam from recrooooters trying to hire me for shit jobs I don't wanna do and if I did I wouldn't talk to a recrooter anyway. I deleted it over five years ago and haven't missed it.

Totally true. But I run a small company and posting on LinkedIn has gotten me costumers in the past. So it's a great marketing tool that's free to use. I've had posts with over 100k views there and it cost me nothing.
It's still a fucking cringe fest all the way down though.

>> No.56347126

Pretty much this. I hate that I HAVE to have one, like >>56346321 said, for marketing reasons more or less (although I don't have a small business, in my field I'm marketing myself). I never post on LinkedIn. I hardly ever use it. But I can't delete it because ZOG made it a requirement to have one in order to find a job if I ever get fired.

Not really sure I get the hate. It's a CV that everyone can look at and that's it. And you can filter through a lot of jobs and find the one you want (you still have to sift through a lot of crap but it's quite alright).
I pretty much only use it to find jobs. You don't even have to upload a picture of yourself so what's the problem?

But if your not bothered by including your self portrait on your profile, I feel it can be a huge benefit.
It should be business appropriate though.
For me, linkedin is just an advanced level of an online resume that automatically gets detected by or routed to, appropriate related people, groups and companies within your field of specialty.

You're literally screwing yourself over for the rest of your career by publicly posting your resume/experience anywhere.
LinkedIn is a data harvesting platform, that's it. They are the only one who benefits from people posting their info on the site.
They sell access to your career data.

If your resume/experience is posted publicly online, you are narrowing your future career opportunities by at least 75%.
