100-day average crossing over the 18-day average (downward). RSI oversold and remains so... which means --> very bearish momentum I'd say. Hopefully the market corrects a bit so we can buy cheapies (since a lot of companies are trading at very low P/Es already we are gonna get an even greater sale).

That sounds like something people would say. I love those kinds of businesses. Dirty unglamorous work nobody else wants to but absolutely has to be done for society to function. Those are the kinds of stocks that go up in a pretty much straight line with minimal volatility. The vol is so low I have to use a 500 day moving average for risk management since it rides the 200 day too closely. I love it. If people are worried about gains then either swing trade it or use LEAPS. There is no better trade in my opinion. My favorite list to choose from is pic related. Not everything in there is perfection but those are the kinds of stocks I like

I look at the sorry state of the world, form a nuanced sophisticated macroeconomic opinion then summarily ignore it. If you graphed the accuracy rate of every guru you've ever heard of, every fed chair and committee member that ever existed, and every economic nobel laureate on a bell curve it would amount to a standard deviation with a 50/50 chance of any particular opinion being right or wrong. Nobody knows where interest rates, GDP, corporate earnings, or anything else will be next month much less next year.
Throw all that shit away and do one simple thing. Look at the price. Is it going down? Sell. Is it going up? Buy. As simple as it is. Right now, what is price doing? Figure that out and you will know the bobo thesis

Fear of a recession is what causes a recession, fear being at an all time high means we are in recession, if not depression, already. Just because the indices are up doesn't mean the economy isn't recessionary, it just means inflation is keeping the indices afloat, they are actually losing significant value year over year since 2020.

Just because the Biden administration doesn't want to admit that they are presiding over a recessionary economy doesn't mean it isn't one. This is the recession, we are in the midst of it already, and everybody is getting fucked bears included because inflation is obfuscating the true direction of the market (down, constantly).

One can't just shift all responsibility to the supervisor, the individual also has responsibility and should be able to recognize when the path he took was wrong.

Anyway, the pedagogy applied on younger zoomers and Alpha was a disaster, you can clearly see the difference between older zoomers and younger zoomers. The former were still raised in the way Millennials and GenX was raised, if they did shit they got told they did shit and had to eat shit

The only reason the market isn't as bad as '08 is because they preemptively started printing instead of waiting for several major bank failures, doesn't dismiss the fact that this is a recession and we have been in one for several years now. Indices relatively flat + massive inflation means widespread devaluation, the fear is already here and has been since 2020 and shows no sign of going away. This recession is remarkably "well managed" insofar as everybody keeps thinking a recession is coming instead of realizing it is already here. It has a lot to do with new media control and wise fiscal policy learned from '08.

Things change faggot, this is what a recession looks like now. You should be prepping for the recovery not for the crash.

If you double 6 figs in a year, you've earned 6 figs. Even a 30% return is nothing to laugh at. Doesn't take options, but also not the kind of returns you'll get stacking VOO. There's a middle ground.
Pretty common to see 5 fig accounts randomly posting big wins. If it was sustainable, you'd think you'd also see 6-7 fig posts of huge gains. You don't.
The problem? Risk management. 5 fig newfags don't know kelly sizing. They streak sometimes, and then they blow up all their gains or worse and disappear.

And BTW, due to these levels of caution, I watch what *turned out* to be many good entries and sell opportunities pass me by because they didn't look quite good enough for me to be reasonably sure of protecting my very precious capital. I have taken some stingers before, and gained them back plus way more, but they hurt like motherfuckers when they happened and I learned I needed to be *way* more careful, more *patient*, due to the seriousness of the risk. Even after I've made some really kick ass trades, I still eat rice and beans to keep from eating away at my capital while I build it up to the point I can have a certain portion for trading and the bulk either earning good interest, or parked in solid stocks once the market issues get resolved and we're back in a nice bull.

that's why it's called 6 figure hell. risk management is hard as hell in practice because that degen gambling bug kicks in for the masses.

Teaching something basic like Kelly Sizing helps. But in the end it takes a balanced approach with a smaller trading account to help supplement a long term account and knowing how to spot big trend changes to hedge that long term account at the right times.

Basically was someone trolling the markets with news about Burry that anyone that knows the markets would laugh at but would easily get retards to be really bearish during rallies so they were exit liquidity for longs before shit actually did get bad.

>But in the end it takes a balanced approach with a smaller trading account to help supplement a long term account and knowing how to spot big trend changes to hedge that long term account at the right times.
Six figs to seven is really just a matter of time and consistency. It takes an entire decade even at a +30% post-tax return rate to reach a million. If you're paying short-term cap gains rates, that 30% is likely a 45% gross return rate. All in all, these are really solid numbers to sustain. It's by no means free or easy to sustain this over extended timeframes. For every person achieving this, there's someone on the other side going a decade lighting money on fire and ending up exactly where they started, if not at large losses.
Worth noting that in a tax free world, that same 45% rate of return would reach 3 million in the same timeframe, 2/3rds total value potential destroyed by taxes. Inflation makes this tax factor worse, since positive real returns are the end goal - not nominal.

Running a smaller trading account can help supplement your longer term swings with some quick flips, but day trading generally doesn't scale up well due to liquidity. At that point it's also more of a full time job than a side interest.

Even better then, since they can tear the market down to 3600 next May, then send it rocketing back to 4700 just in time for the 2024 election. See? Joe Biden wins again, sure he's barely conscious and hasn't done any appearances besides a single 1 hour debate, but it is very realistic that he got 91 million votes to Trumo's 90 million. It took me 3 years to realize that active investing as an individual doesn't make sense. The time and effort wasted actively analyzing and monitoring your companies is better spent improving your skills to increase your income. Unless you have a lot of savings, you should invest your time into building skills and improving your income. You won't be the next Warren Buffett.
Buy index funds. You get average returns guaranteed, you don't have to worry about bankruptcies or updating your portfolio through the decades meaning that if you really want you can just defer taxes until you die which means that in the long run, even though you are getting average returns, you'll end up with more money because you're not paying any taxes on unrealized gains that just keep on compounding forever. You can always borrow using your portfolio as collateral and never pay a single tax dollar. You'll always be diversified too.

Just get another hobby
