ETH doesn't moon very often, but it also doesn't crash. I can sleep while holding it. Also, trading eth pairs is much easier than trading BTC pairs (because ETH is more stable).

Ripple beat out Eth back in May in marketcap for a short while. Then Ripple crashed from 40 cents to 14 cents over time. Eth crashed too, but kept its value better.

Will history repeat? Possibly. Remember, Ripple doesn't even have trading pairs.

Absolutely this.
Ripple goes up, then crashes. Eth goes up, then it stays there. There's just too many people and developers using ETH for it to crash. Ripple will crash hard on Jan 1st once people realize that the Coibase rumors weren't true. Most money will flow back to BTC and ETH.
