All the dread going on right now just makes me euphorically bullish. The only thing I regret is not being able to buy more names.

what dread?
you faggots need to start shilling triple emojis again before my shit expires

/biz/ emoji cult is dead, I check twatter for sentiment and almost everything else. qrd is that having to pay to hold assets which are probably completely illiquid rather than just holding them without anything happening and being able to sell anytime at a loss is a different kind of dread inducing financial pain.

The long explanation is this: Practically every reseller has been feeling the renewal fee pain over the last few months, we're in a deep bear market and many countries are in an economical downturn. The level of conviction you need to have to keep on paying to hold illiquid niche assets with an uncertain future under these conditions is borderline delusional, but at the same time most holders are depressed, a potential bull market might be on the way next year and the general recognition and integrations of ENS have been up only, this sort of mismatch between prices, sentiment, and value is why I'm euphoric, even though many are dreadful because they either can't sell anything at all or only for very low prices. People are even doing teller loans and defaulting on them as a last resort of getting liquidity (although some of the loan offers were clearly only promotional offers by teller). I think when you're in the domain game for a while one thing that becomes abundantly clear is that people will think their absolute dogshit names are worth money, but when your own names aren't selling how can you be sure you aren't one of those people?

If you have a good ens name for a subreddit or 4chan board you can create a decentralized version of those communities on plebbitapp.eth.limo or plebchan.eth.limo and set the ens name as address. Users connect to the community via p2p using the address, so the more users you community has the more popular your ens name gets (the higher its price). Currently you have to use github dot com slash plebbit slash plebbit-cli

To make worthwhile money on it you need a lot of them, but if you have a lot of them you have a lot of renewal fee liabilities. The thing here is not that whether or not it will pump, it's about the risk/reward ratio. Almost all shitcoins did about a 5-10x at some point in the last bull market and I don't see why established ENS categories like digits wouldn't do the same. Anybody can make a bit of profit in a bull market, but things like 5Ds won't be the exceptional winners. It's relatively low risk/reward (for a name) but if we're talking about holding only a couple of them you gotta ask yourself if it's even worth bothering with all of it for like a $500 profit that you will probably hold back down to $50 anyway. It's easy pickings because you don't need a brain to sort out whether or not it's a good name and you have at least a bit of exit liquidity because it's established, hence also the relatively low reward even in a good scenario. The main problem here is that you are taking on a liability in form of renewal fees. It would overall be easier and better to just accumulate some decent shitcoin for what will probably be the same profit. For me 5Ds are the least worthy of encapsulating what it means to gamble on names, which is to register a name for $5 and eventually sell it for $5k+, and that's something that just won't happen with 5Ds. 3&4Ds can have at least some narratives going on for them, 5Ds only exist because that's where the lowest possible renewal fee starts and it's still alright as an address shortener, but everything above 5Ds is just nonsense.

imagine having to renew your ens names every year. algo names start from less then $5 and you own them forever. algo got the exposure it needed last bull market, next is the profit and bail phase
