Office life is hell. Don’t do it. Men are meant to be outside.

Office work is for cucks, so I work from home with my baby momma

Because most people on this board are still in their first job and they don't have to do anything yet. You are in training wheels for your first 3-5 years.
>seems chill to just sit around with your coworking lads and talk
That is true for the first 3-5 years. And then you have to start producing.

>Anon it’s pride month make sure to put rainbows on all your stuff and wear rainbow clothes to next Wednesday meeting
>Make sure you always have your camera on in meetings
>Team meetings while you’re in the office and everyone else is also in the office
>HR woke commissars constantly enforcing ideology on the office
>”What did you on the weekend. I went hiking!”
No one is actually your friend there. They use a whole other language in offices because of how sterile the environment is. People who thrive in offices are the most normie of normies. Get a physical job outdoors in the sun. You might not make as much but you’ll be infinitely healthier and happier than an office.

'Actual office work' consists of getting shit done
It means organizing headless chickens and making them lay eggs
Engineers don't like to work, warehouse wagies don't either, so office wagies are there to coral the cats in the pen

Idk if you're being sarcastic but anyone called a 'project manager' does what I described
The type of project is fluid but the premise is consistent
I spend my time telling engineers and even stupider people what to do because they can't organize themselves

project manager is a vague title
it doesnt mean you manage people necessarily, I do not have direct reports (yet)
but you occupy a niche, have a specialty, so when engaged, your expertise is taken as Law
In my case, it is Purchasing
When someone needs a particular item, I find it
I tell the person whats going to happen next and I solve their problem
Autists do poorly in this environment due to impatience

the crazy part anon, is that if you really have a healthy nurturing office like that, everyone there is intentionally going out of their way to try to be kind and welcoming to you, and they're old enough to know that younger professionals like yourself sometimes sperg out and have an overreaction or are overcome with emotion. but that's completely normal.

no, to babysit.
to be a source of artificial authority.
to be someone to listen to an engineer say why he didn't do his job and make him feel bad.

I’m almost 40. And trust me when I say I have been in enough offices to know it is all shallow platitudes. No one actually cares. When you inevitably leave no one will remember you or even call you.

I’ve worked office jobs, I don’t know if I’m unlucky but they’ve all sucked. You get overworked with risk KPIs, you’re eyes deteriorate and hurt from starting at a screen 24/7, your glutes and shoulders hurt from sitting down 24/7, you’re micromanaged, a lot of office jobs are phone based and my god I fucking hate talking to people on the phone, some meetings are ok but some are so unnecessary and awkward like the ones where you all take turns talking about how great the company values are. You’re also constantly being given with elearning modules to do after work or performance reviews that you have to write. They’re definitely things to like but at the end of the day it’s still wageslaving and still misery. My advise though if you did want an office job I’d avoid telephones and always hit just below your KPIs even if you’re promised a bonus because the more you do the more your managers will demand.

>why are meetings bad
A job I had had weekly meetings where 2 people gave brief updates on what they were doing which were relevant for everyone to know but the meetings lasted about an hour with 99% of the time talking about nothing and bullshitting, it was very cringe.

>KPIs
accountants aren't responsible for business operations so KPIs aren't relevant, but they definitely have deadlines that must be met. when i worked in audit, the audit had to be finished by anticipated filing dates. when i did GL accounting, entries had to be in by day 2 for revenue and day 5-6 for anything else. i work in financial reporting now, and we have hard deadlines for submitting financials.

>phone based
no but it's definitely microsoft teams based. i work from home. i spent a fair amount of time on calls and screen sharing. a lot of emails as well.

>different tasks in a day
i work in financial reporting. we do annual reports as of 12/31 which are due in may/june. i've been cruising doing minimal amounts of work for the past month or two, mostly training up new hires and working with managers in other areas of accounting, explaining the accounting changes we need to make to rectify errors we identified last year. we're doing Q3 draft financials soon so my work will ramp up next month through mid october, slow down a bit for november/december holidays, and then ramp up again in Q1 to generate 12/31 financials, fix any issues, work with auditors, and ultimately file.

when did GL accounting it was journal entries for the first week, reconciliations the second week, sitting on my ass the third week, and then rolling files forward and doing light preparation work for the following week in the last week of the month. but this varies from comapny to company. generally big, publicly traded companies run a tight ship. privately held companies can be a fucking disaster due to shit systems, shit accounting processes, etc. impending and recent IPOs can be living hell as well.

audit was wageslavery 24/7: professional services type shit where you fill out timesheets in 0.1 hour increments and get wageslaved 50-60 hours a week by multi millionaire jew partners.
