When I had to move back home after an injury my parents gave me a room for free, but I took care of the house chores and bought my own food. Once the medical debt was paid was paid off after a year, I offered to pay rent, but they said save for a house instead, so 1 year later I moved out with a fha loan (although this was when you could afford to buy a house).
