I’ve been interested in the subject of day trading because I’ve been having success at it after developing a technique of applying TA and restraining myself. Yet whenever I Google day trading I get endless results saying things like “99 percent of day traders are unprofitable” and recommendations to invest in long term vehicles. I understand the advantages of long term investment, but it seems like the case against day trading is super overstated. It seems bizarre to me in contrast to my experience.

I’m not. At the same time, the barrage of Google results one gets on the subject of day trading is so uniformly negative that it’s bizarre.

You don’t even have to have a positive win rate you just have to have good risk management.
So in theory you could “lose money” on 99% of your trades as long as it’s not a significant amount and then on 1% of your trades you make a huge return and still be profitable.
Fuck jewgle

That's my experience.
I was at the airport yesterday and noticed several mutts playing some game on their phones where they literally just clicked the screen as fast as possible. That mentality is how most people perceive "day trading" or any other job.

Trying to get into a prop firm after quantitative finance degree. Learn day trading there, after couple years trade my own money or use capital providers like TradeDay or TopStep. Am I gonna make it?

Kek. From a few real life examples, I’ve noticed some people have a tendency to just look back at a chart and observe a bottom and a top and then say “if only I bought here and sold here” with no strategic or technical insight; pure simplistic retrospection. They’ll then talk about trading the news as if this is the ultimate guide. Also, they want to get rich quick. All of that is horrible, but are 99 percent of people who day trade really like that? There must be a distinction between dabblers and people who are actually applying some technique in order for any stats about success to be meaningful, especially in this age of accessibility.

Thanks anon. I’ll take that to heart.

Have you been doing any trading? How frequent? How much leverage? How old are you?

you'll get rekt eventually.

If I even get a little rekt, I’ll quit like a loser. I’m naturally very risk averse.

You need to have an edge on the market and reduce your emotions. In the day of frontrunning bots, it's difficult to trade on very short intervals. Swing trading large market cycles in crypto is feasible. If BTC goes to 150000, it's a good time to average out and average back in at 50000.
But I generally agree with the advice of most people who say to buy and hold an asset where you're highly convicted. Buy & hold is also low maintenance. Are you going to make more money trading than through buy & hold?
