I'd say it all evens out when those super high paid tech jobs require you to live in the Bay Area or one of those other ungodly overpriced parts of Southern California where you'll be paying $3500/mo in rent. You might as well be making $75k/year in a lower cost of living state. Even better if it's one with no state taxes like Texas, Tennessee, etc.
