55603127 No.55603127 [Reply] [Original]

Now that its been confirmed that the fees to use CCIP are based on the amount of value transacted, do we have enough data yet to see what the ratio or percentage is?

I was looking at the ccip.chain.link explorer but it seemed like most of the transactions weren't sending any value. Just tests maybe until the 20th maybe.

There are lots of extrapolations that could be made.

If its .1% of the value as a fee to use CCIP (I have no idea what it is) then we can start to make some assumptions to what total CCIP fees might look like over the course of a year.

Of course we also don't know what percent will go to the stakers as well.

Nearly all DEXes will eventually perform cross chain swaps as standard to pull liquidity from Ethereum to smooth out pricing on chains that don't have any. The same for protocols that offer loans.

If I could find data for the amount of value traded, borrowed, and bridged over the last year through decentralized protocols you could do hypotheticals on how much of that CCIP will facilitate. They will take a massive chunk of the market share.

I know the number is in the trillions of value transacted in those 3 manners.

It might take some time but between BUILD rewards and CCIP fees staking might actually rather lucrative. This doesn't even take into account a large majority of the supply being locked for staking once there are no caps.

Its hard to know what the cost will be but there is a price to pay for safe cross chain transfers. Everyone who has attempted it thus far has been hacked at one time or another. That fee is much less than the value that will be gained by seamlessly being able to connect all public and private blockchains.

>Fee payment premiums for CCIP Messaging will be a flat fee per message, while fees for using CCIP to enable token transfers will be a percentage of the value transferred. CCIP fees also include gas cost overhead. The premium portion of fees paid in alternative assets will have a surcharge of 10% versus LINK payments. Current CCIP premium fees are in line with industry standards within the cross-chain ecosystem, although these values are subject to change.

It's not every transaction though, just the transactions that need to cross chains. When you're on the chain you need to be on you won't be paying that again until you need to jump back to the chain you started on, or to another chain entirely.

Please could a community advocate answer the following

>payments made in alternative assets will be withdrawn to separate maintenance pools and replaced within the CCIP contracts with LINK based on the exchange rate at the time of payment

Why are they not dumping the native tokens and buying link on the open market directly?

Wait till they find out that 'revenue' is negative value given that it's denominated in link that gets given back to subsidize nodes to cover their gas costs. As anyone who follows things should realize.
They won't blv it though...
The wildest part is that even if it all genuinely had 100x in real revenue you'd still be looking at a 20x p/e with it's $3.6b market cap...

https://dune.com/ericwallach/chainlink-ccip-revenue

It looks like the total cumulative revenue is around 30k USD.
Which seems low. But total cumulative TXs is 3k.
Not sure how this ratio will change, but if it won't, then you can calculate a cool 1$ revenue per TXs.

All you need then is an estimated amount of tx per day / year.
