Tech companies are laying off "thousands" but stil winding up larger than they were 2-3 years ago. It's a trimming of extremely overzealous 2022 hiring, but it's not like Microsoft just went bankrupt or something. The sheer size of these organizations is tough for humans to grok I guess.

Since I graduated in 2016, all of my friends from college have had a gig and I can't get them to budge for 200k/year interviews. That's still true, aside from 1 guy that went math -> bootcamp and has some psychological issues. He's looking for a new role now.

Interviewing now is definitely shit this year compared to 2022

If I were to brainstorm new careers....I just don't know. Almost everything that doesn't involve being connected seems shit. (connected roles are like MBB consulting)
My therapist switched from QA -> therapy with a 2 year online masters and now charges ~$120/hr, billable to insurance so half the year I only pay $5 (artificial demand on the wage). He at least doesn't deal with any pajeets or chinks. He just runs a practice with his waifu.

Also on my mind is just checking out and teaching english in vietnam while essentially coastFIRE
