Aside from the fact that it him saying such things readily invites ridicule, he is not wrong as such: men, as a general tendency, take care of things, and get aggressive when something important to them is threatened. He is, being on reddit, likely easily influenceable, however, and reddit rewards highly theatricality. Thus, when asked what "makes a man manly", he gives the substantially same answer as anyone in e.g. the manosphere would. He could have said something like
>being kind and strong
and communicated the same core message, and it would not have invited nearly as much ridicule by virtue of being concise, and not evidencing a suffocating need for approval.
It's nice that he bought a toy sword for his little nephew, just a nice gesture for an uncle to do, but he could likewise have phrased it as
>I bought a toy sword for my nephew and he had a lot of fun with it. I enjoyed being there for him
and not as "Nephew wants a toy sword. Done." (in addition to putting the rest of the post in the grating and repetitive format of "[silly demand]? Done."... it even pisses me off just writing it out). This is partially an effect of the platform itself, which incentivizes and causes a kind of extreme need approval. And duly, he even appended

Ironically, the need for approval that causes inadvertently comical tone of the post evidences the lack of strength in one's character. This is not to say that he is "a weak man" (he's buying toy swords for his nephew, I'm sure he's a nice enough guy), but that he has this weakness inside him. He of course does not see it, because he's listing his strengths - and, if we are fair (and balanced), they are real strengths, but the overall message, which he does not see, is one of weakness.
