Is getting a university degree still worth it when we have the AI revolution around the corner?.

>> No.55503050

school or college was never worth it for the last 30 years
anyone who started a street food shop would have made millions

By the time I become specialized and finish the degree AI will be self sufficient while I just become another person with an obsolete degree

get a degree in gay sex. you're going to be having a lot of it where things are going.

>> No.55503205

pirate courses and then just sit the test
you're not going to be employed without lying anyway

It's worth it if it's applied math, CS or engineering combined with a good internship. Don't fall for the "you don't need a degree" meme, those people are trying to FUD you into poverty. You'll be worse off without the degree in a hypothetical AI revolution, unless you're planning to study something useless on a loan, anyway.

what about degrees like psychology?

a degree is worth it when you've got no clue on how to create value in the actual system, as in, if you can create value you can capitalize it, so if you eventually get the degree you will be able to follow instructions someone else gives you and that entity has atleast some confidence in the institution that gave you the degree

or if you want to pursuit academia, but you're on /biz/ not /sci/

Go to college you dumb fuc. Not because everyone else does but if you absolutely know it will be your one job your entire life. Otherwise dont risk it. I didnt realize what i wanted to do until i was in my 30s. Do applied math.

Get a STEM degree if you want to go to med school.

>> No.55504031

I'm skeptical of everything white collar right now and I lack the patience to be in an office computer position. I don't want to bust my back building houses for the Jews. Would something like a hospital technician work be a bad idea? I'd be doing something valuable for other people and from my point of view it doesn't seem like the worst kind of job

I don’t think robots will be able to sign off liability on prescribing drugs (med), wipe boomer asses (nurse), manage 10-second attention span working zoomers (MBA), or have some kind of nepotistic way into a position (finance). Tech/IT idk, maybe it will create more demand because there will be more happening in that area.

Yes you need a degree.
Yes a college is a scam.

These are both true at the same time. However, /biz/ will never give you an answer on how the education system should be fixed because that requires knowing more than memes you read on /pol/.

There's anywhere between 0 and 30 percent chance that the AI revolution both happens and affects your life significantly. Source: I made up the numbers.
But seriously you have to be high on nuclear copium to think there's more than 30% chances that AI will actually do something substantial before you are crippled by old age.

it depends on what you're studying, as it always did. For me going to college was nearly a complete waste of time. I would have been better off just finding a government job with a nice pension and starting to work from 18, could.
