It’s Getting a Lot Harder to Chase the Stock Rally From Here On
Equities are disconnecting from worsening economic backdrop
Profit warnings, rising rates deal a blow to soft-landing bets
Global equities have decoupled from a worsening economic backdrop after rising about 13% in 2023, prompting warnings from some of the world’s top money managers that chasing the rally from here on is a risky move. Growing corporate profit warnings are also driving home the message.
“Resilience now is sowing the seeds for fragility down the line,” said Andrew McCaffery, global chief investment officer at Fidelity International. “The ‘best-flagged recession in history’ still isn’t upon us. But that recession will come when the lagged effects of policies eventually take hold.”
Almost 99% respondents in a Deutsche Bank AG survey of 400 market professionals said higher rates will likely lead to more global “accidents,” with most of them expecting the moves to bring fresh strain to financial markets.

Democratsisters how do we promote younger democrats to pick up after biden? Hes looking weak for 2024 and the economy has been recovering stronger then ever in 2023. I don't want my gains erased by some fat chud like desantis and his backwards florida economics. We need to push the climate change economy harder and promote its job boosting effects. Maybe grassroots /o/ and convince the chuds there to buy EVs.

hi /smg/
any canadafriends here? I have a bit of a problem in that I work for a US company and get US shares from them. I want to sell some of the shares I have received and put them into a US trading account. My current broker charges a decent chunk to trade US stocks.

I want some US stuff to invest in but I can't day trade because the cost of repeat trades is too much for me to keep doing that (and I'm not smart / free enough to day trade). Do you guys have any suggestions?
>Are there relatively safe ETFs I can buy and forget?
>Are there low interest / low risk things I can buy on the market? Like in Canada we have weird ETFs that are basically just high interest savings accounts (4-5% risk free). I wouldn't mind parking my money in something like this until I feel better about taking on more risk.
>Are there barbell ETFs? I am worried about a big pullback in the stock market in the near future, would be cool to look at some with a strategy encouraged by my financial patron saint, ol mr Taleb himself

Could you explain what the inverted yield curve means to a brainlet?
>The closely-watched spread between the 2-year and 10-year U.S. Treasury note yields hit the widest since 1981 at -109.50 in early trade, a deeper inversion than in March during the U.S. regional banking crisis. The gap was last at -108.30 bp.

>Could you explain what the inverted yield curve means to a brainlet?
Sure.
In literal terms, what it means is that short dated bonds are trading with a higher yield than long dated bonds.
For example, look at this website:
https://www.marketwatch.com/investing/bond/tmubmusd02y?countryCode=BX
https://www.marketwatch.com/investing/bond/tmubmusd10y?countrycode=bx
You see how the 2 year bond has a yield of 4.925% and the 10 year has a yield of 3.858%?
This is the yield curve inverted - that a 2 year bond is paying higher interest than a 10 year bond.
Why does this matter / why should you care?
Investors (in general) demand a higher interest rate for a longer time period - if you're going to be locking up your money for 10 years, you want a higher interest rate for your trouble doing so. If you're only having to lock up your money for 2 years, you are more accepting of a lower rate of interest. This is due to a multitude of factors, but primarily due to fears/risks of inflation [10 years from now, there could be higher inflation, the money you get could be worth less - so you demand a higher interest rate]
When the yield curve gets inverted, market participants are expecting that the Fed will cut interest rates - why expect this? Because the economy will get weak (recession) and more banks will blow up due to the higher rates. The bond market expects a recession, there is greater uncertainty about what will happen in the short-run, demand higher interest rates
The real damage from an inverted yield curve has to do with lending and money supply growth. Banks make money "lending long and borrowing short" - what this phrase means is that banks will borrow money on a 1-3 month to 2 year duration, and then will make loans that may last for 10-30 years. When the yield curve is inverted, they are not making (as much, or at all) money - they have to borrow at 4.925% and lend at 3.858% (plus risk premium) Banks kill lending, kill money supply growth, kills economy

It's ok, let them live in their fantasy land. Most the people here shit talking America are either yuropoors who willingly handed over their only means of defending themselves to the government without firing a single shot, or even worse, pajeets. Guns are an afterthought frankly. After working 12 hours in the call center scamming American senior citizens for Google play cards, they collect their $0.12 in wages and go to pick up their thimble full of jasmine rice to feed themselves and their 13 children. That's the easy part. You ever had to walk miles home through knee deep shit? That's what they deal with everyday. It's like walking in quicksand. It's a small price to pay though since toilets are racist. They'll usually spill half their thimble of rice out on the way home to make matters worse. If that was your life, you'd be seething at Americans too. It's not easy to be CRBPajeet.

I remember having seen a website that displays export and import data on various countries with extremely good interactive features, displayed in a map stylie simmilar to pic related from https://finviz.com/, but like with individual industry branches like electronics, automobile industry, food products, steel, etc.
and you could directly compare different countries and how much and what they each import and export to each other.
Does anyone remember that website and has a link, I've seen it posted on 4chan before.

I completely over going out and hanging out with people. Probably just depression but I just want to stay home. Normally I'd just say no, but my friends little daughter once her "uncle" to be there to watch the fireworks with her and her family and I'll suck it up to make the kid happy. That's basically my only kryptonite.

>In economics and finance, a Glownigger Market is said to occur when a country's financial policymakers begin manipulating econometric data for their political benefit. [1] This may be accompanied by organized propaganda campaigns, hidden monetary easing, as well as other forms of financial repression, in order to reinforce the illusion that a nation's troubled economy is sound and resilient. [2, 3] In a Glownigger Market, stocks may seem to rally, even irrationally so, in the face of worsening economic conditions. However, while the goal of a Glownigger Market is to either delay or prevent a politically undesireable financial correction from occurring, the policy actions that led to the Glownigger Market invariably increase the severity of the subsequent financial crisis. By attempting to overpower healthy corrective market forces, a Glownigger Market causes extreme capital misallocation that can turn a minor economic downturn into a severe and protracted economic depression. Right now what I do is select cheque disbursement and deposit it into a USD savings account I have with a Canadian bank. And I am going to try to use EFT to move that money into IB. However this is cumbersome, and was wondering if anyone had a more time/cost effective way. You Americans are really quite lucky with how easy it is to trade.

im not even debating whether the data is fake or not im criticizing that your argument that its not possible because for economic jobs data somehow there would have to be collusion between all the workers in the data even though they have no part in calculating the data in any way.

the agent that's here on 4channel uses remote viewing to look at the Virginia agent's computer screen with the PRISM dashboard on it and can see that the person who posts the same image on a regular basis in this thread is the same as the one who posted it in the other thread. Since there's no possible way that 2 anons could possibly read the same 2 threads on this one board by pure coincidence, the 4channel agent uses a pendulum to find where the followed target is posting. The pendulum swings clockwise and counterclockwise to give direction, and forms tighter and wider patterns to indicate "warmer" and "colder" respectively. They can't notice the image that the target regularly posts though, because all of this is done in a closed eyed trance state. Verification not required.

The buildings could be bombed, there would be near zero radiological issues.

Eh, I'm already balls deep in RIOT and MARA. They've been about half of my portfolio since November or so. BTC might stay crabbing for another year though, so I don't want to put everything on those stocks. There's really no good reasons they're suddenly going up so much considering the crabbing of BTC so investing at these prices might have more downside potential than upside. I'll just sit tight with the amount of stocks I have on miners for now.

There's nothing wrong with maturing in your trading but there are still low cap stocks out there with extreme upside potential and minimal downside. A month ago I traded $AI for example. With the amount of hype around it, there was simply no way it was going below $17 and staying there, I sold at $39. Easiest trade I made in a long while. I'm not saying I'm still willing to throw 10k on whatever $CLOV, $WISH and $NAKD were doing back then but there's a difference between gambling and taking calculated risks.

Feelings. No but seriously, support and resistance. And feelings. And maybe pay attention to volume and RSI but realistically those things don't matter.

Support and resistance is respected by both algos and niggers. I mean humans. Sorry

The momentum premium is the only research validated long term edge over the market. Even Fama acknowledges it as a persistent anomaly. Moving averages and breaks above 52 week high are two popular ways to measure momentum. The problem with fundamental analysis is while it can raise awareness of a market anomaly it doesn't give a relatable enough timeframe to make it profitable to trade e.g. you could easily says stocks are overvalued according to CAPE and of course they are. But what are you gonna do about it? Sell everything? Go short? Good luck with that
