I'm the fren who like to collect antique silverware when i can find some. I recently was wondering if such items could interest people in the US. I know you guys tend to love old items with history, but for obvious reasons the supply is quite limited up there.

For example, how much do you think burgerbros would be ready to shell out for an item like pic rel (year 1747, made in Savoy, .958 purity, 72gr, coat of arms of a catholic archbishop)?
And personally, if you came across an item like this locally, how much would you be ready to pay for it? What criterias would you prioritize to try to figure out it's value (condition? age? PM content? if it was in possession of prestigious men?...) ?

Hey frogbro good to see ya I thought you got janniebannied. Got a pic of the other side of that nice old spoon? I could imagine something like that selling for 2x or more over spot if put in a display case or cabinet at an antique mall with a price and descriptive placard next to it explaining why it's a based and patrician piece of silverware, hard to say really but if you were able to quickly direct the attention of burgerfat shoppers to the impressive age of such silver pieces I'm sure lots of people would stop and study the items more closely. The USA is a young country so anything over ~200 years old tends to impress normies here.

Yeah those scratches in the area parallel to the "HINDEN" text definitely look like evidence of cleaning, it's not normal circulation/handling wear. Doesn't look too bad or really bother me much personally tho so if it's priced right I'd consider buying it.

I should have pinned the page, it's just a random one i liked i saved from ebay, i don't own it. It's a beautiful piece, but the price wasn't really great.

>something like that selling for 2x or more over spot
That's not too bad, yet a bit below what i was hoping for. iirc, the one i posted is already on sale for x3 spot.
Quite sad to see you have CSGO gun skins going for tens of thousands USD even tho it's just few pixels of virtual paint for a fps, while 300 years old history pieces made out of precious metals (and still useful on a daily basis if you want to) are going for 100 bux.
The J unhinged speculative mind really did a number on society, ppl are unable to correctly assert the true value of things (material or not). Everything feels completely mispriced. You have flash drives with several billions of 3nano sized transistors condensed in an incredible design of human ingenuosity for 10 bux, but a worthless whore spreading her legs for 30min is going for $300. Human labor in the US especially is experiencing the most sickening nonsense. To see all the bullshit jobs being more rewarded than the real productive members of society seems straight up demonic.
A bit of hope is anytime prostitution became the most financially and socially rewarding job in any society, the collapse was around the corner. It was true in Carthage, in Rome, in Babylon,..

Speaking of numisfaggotry, those 2 coins arrived by the mail earlier this week.
Quite dirty to say the least. I gave them a very light baking soda aluminum bath, but it didn't do anything it seems, probably due to the dirt.

For the little story, this coin is quite significant historically, because it was the first french coin to use the decimal system (100 cents = 1 franc). Before it was like 12 deniers for one sol, 14 sols for one livre, 3 livres for one écu, etc.. a complete mess.
Napoleon changed this.
And he also got rid of the revolutionary (((masonic))) calendar you can see (year one = 1792, so l'An 10 = 1802) displayed on the coins after just few years, because it was all retarded jacobin's shit who was getting everybody confused (especially the 10 days week, the new months, new kabbalah inspired "holidays", etc...

The most affordable is the 10 francs Hercule
https://fr.numista.com/catalogue/pieces674.html
Also 25gr .900.

The 50 Francs is slightly larger (30gr) and usually the premium is a bit higher (like 3%).

You also have others 5 Francs coins of 25gr/900, but without the Hercule, like the Napoleon III, Roi Louis-Philippe, Cères (pic),..
Or even the belgian and swiss ones, who used the same denomination/standard, same size and purity.
Premiums vary a bit between those, but it's up to you to find a nice deal on ebay.
Lately, there are plently of great deals on those old big silver coins, you should take a look fren!

Not sure what it means to be "a meme" in this context, but the BRICS are real, command more GDP than the G7, and they really are openly discussing launching a new currency backed by commodities. Not surprisingly, after the USA doubled down on its financial bullying to punish Russia.

Whether it will be backed by gold is speculation at this point, but there are some good reasons to think it will be. Gold is the one commodity all the BRICS have in common. Gold has ALWAYS been the universal monetary commodity. And it is difficult to imagine the logistics of any commodity other than gold backing a multi-national currency.

We should have more information pretty soon.

The USD can go on for decades because it's currently the world reserve currency. Countries all around the world are eating up the inflation just as much as American citizens. It's only going to be a problem when nations start to dump their reserve dollars in the United States. Then you will get hyper inflation and the crack up boom.

I agree. But one of the problems with fiat is that it can go to shit almost overnight because - as we all know - its value ultimately depends entirely on the integrity of bankers and politicians. Of course the BRICS are no bastions of integrity. They are as big a den of vipers as the US government. But they will have to suppress their avarice and corruption for awhile if they are to work together and gain world confidence.

Numismatics require expertise. Regularly minted silver does not. IF you have the expertise to buy unrecognized numismatic "gems" you can do well reselling them. BUT you must find a buyer and that may be very difficult. The more rare and valuable a numismatic coin, the smaller the pool of buyers will be. If nobody is buying, you won't be selling. That is not a problem with regularly minted silver. Personally, I would not buy numismatic coins in the hope of making a profit because I am too lazy and insufficiently interested (and maybe too stupid?) to do the homework and legwork required.

I've only plumbed the depths of the relatively clean and safe "storm drain" sewers, for draining rain off streets not nasty sewage. People would lose coins and jewelry all the time walking the sidewalks and streets which would roll into the drains well out of reach of the lowly humans on the surface and collect in the pipes below, silver tends to get a bit corroded but gold stays pretty fresh.

Name-calling a country is no substitute for reasoned analysis unless you are a journalist or politician. Or a paid fud?

Brazil is one of the top ten gold producers in the world and has other natural resources in abundance. Russia is the third largest gold producer in the world and has other natural resources in abundance. The average Indian housewife has more gold than you could ever dream of. Estimates run as high as 20,000 tons of gold in private Indian hands. China is the world's largest gold producer and has been buying large quantities on top of that. South Africa is another top ten gold producer and also has other natural resources (like platinum). The BRICS have gold. Lots of it.

The fact that all of these BRICS countries have social and economic problems (so does the USA by the way - big ones) actually argues in FAVOR of them turning to gold to help stabilize their international relations. When the Soviet Union was unable to feed its starving population with its dysfunctional government farms, it had to buy wheat from Canada. Guess how it paid for it? Gold.

The worse off those countries are, the MORE they need a gold-backed currency for world trade. And necessity will drive their cooperation.

Sorry, can't watch that freak.
As for platinum, I see it as a bet on fuel cell tech. While battery EVs seem to have the lead in the new wave of automobiles, that is still in flux. Hydrogen has its own advantages, one big one being that you can use it in an ICE and also run electric. It needs some infrastructure, but an industry as gigantic as motor transport can easily swallow that one-time up-front cost. Ultimately people will need to get over their nuke-phobia. But that will be necessary for battery EVs also.

An interesting new development is the probability of vast geological reservoirs of hydrogen that can be tapped with existing tech. That is a game changer.

I would recommend gold and silver first. But platinum is an interesting way to diversify your PM holdings.

Saying a country has gold is no substitute for reasoned analysis unless you are a journalist or politician. Or a paid shill?
All their gold won’t matter much if they’re corrupt shitholes. If they were organized, civilized countries? Sure, they’d easily pull this off. But in the state they’re currently in and with them getting shittier by the day (except Brazil, maybe) there’s just no way.
And sure, the Soviet Union the nice used gold to pay for food. And yeah, they might do so again but there’s no need for a new currency (that Canada probably wouldn’t want) to do that. They can just use gold as is (it’s it’s current spot price). I’m sure Canada will accept that (so that they can sell it off immediately, can’t be holding any gold as the Canadian government…)
Essentially, what I’m trying to say:

Storytime /pmg/ because I finally got some wild silver coins.
>Be wagie in a Chinese restaurant
>On two separate occasions on my shift today, some boomers actually leave their tips in 40% Kennedys
>Of course it's my luck that the Becky's had those tables and not me
>One waitres was literally tipped 20 of the fucking things
>Typically, they didn't know what they had and just took it the register to get shiat bills
>But I know better
>Tried to play it cool about it and offered to exchange my tips for the coins but was too late
>The Chinese owner gives 2 coins to each employee on shift and saves the rest of them for her husband who likes to collect old coins
>I was so close to getting like 25 of these coins but at least I got 2 of them
There you go, happy but bittersweet story and seriously anons, never tip waitresses in silver, they literally have no idea wtf you are giving them.

I'm going to build under my property Rambo style but with concrete and place a dozen booby traps leading up to my hoard. I actually am working on the blueprints now. It is 10k square feet with two floors. The only entryway is through my root cellar and the only exit is outside my storm drain hatch. If I were to price it it would be in the ballpark of 800k which is too much for me right now, admittedly.

I will also be building an enclosed concrete half house hidden away from prying eyes but large enough to grow 1/2 an acre of corn, wheat and many vegetables. I will also retrofit my outdoor patio with a screen so I can grow herbs and spices. Lastly I will repair my roof, buy my mommy's own home because I'm a good boy and then I will make sure to keep my armory stocked. I am in a mountainous area with the ocean to my back

if the manipulation ends and the price moons would this result in cessation of silver for industrial uses?

>> No.55433285

>>55433216
I would suspect any industrial use that could be getting away with using some cheaper alternative would already be using the cheaper alternative.
so, short answer, no. i doubt it wall change anything but the price of the end product or service,
now, any industry that can not stay in business without "cheap" silver, may have to go under or switch to some other industry, in the event of mooning silver.
meaning, they will simply pass the added cost of business, on to the consumer with the end product price tag. if they cant get away with that, then its another ball game.

Follow the numerology if you like, but here's my experience over the past dozen years.
In terms of current ratio by mass, my GSR is 1:0.84 (or, SGR 1:1.19). Not counting the silver that has silly high premiums, the recent dip in silver has left me 0.2% down (a comically small loss). My gold is now up 14.4%. My palladium, copper, and rhodium are all up. Only platinum is really down: 20.2% (absurd premiums). I regularly buy - often 3 or 4 times a month, but usually twice a month, and I mix it up.

tl;dr: Don't turn your nose up at gold. It's a good performer.

the gold otoya coin is still in the works but we should have PO for that soonTM/

Multiple other projects are in the works at the moment and we arent going to spoill everything but expect atleast one cheaper novelty coin we think everyone will enjoy,
