Quite risky desu. Don't you fear their value will tank once the one ring chase card conveniently ends up in the hands of a famous streamer who will open it on stream? Preferably in October, so ppl already cracked billions of boxes trying to find the ring, and just in time to reignite hype for the 2nd part of the LOTR edition?

Moreover, the set being limited to modern/legacy/edh might hurt, considering pioneer is the format getting the most support on the competitive scene.
And since the set was really heavily designed around edh, there are very few playable cards for modern/leg (beside bowmaster, and the one ring in tron probably, and maybe one or two other cards in very specific builds like samwise or flame of anor).

The set being quite weak, with only 2 major chase cards is really risky considering how hellbents they are on vampirizing the secondary market with reprints. The Ring may be safe for a while considering it's LOTR themed/named, but bowmaster is generic and could be reprinted any time.

Not only the set is weak, pandering to edh only, print to demand with a huge fanbase, a lottery ticket, but above all the sealed products are fucking expensive.

If i were you i'd rather spec on March of the Machine, the previous set. It sold poorly bcuz released between two hugely shilled sets (phyrexia ones and LOTR) but was fucking LOADED with staples in the mythic slots.

Personally concerning LOTR, i only recently targeted three singles :

only playable mythic alongside the Ring, is a buffed No Mercy in most situations (with sac instead of destroy actually being huge vs protections) and a busted 2nd ability. Got x40 copies for 3 bux a pop.
Expect it to reach 10 bux by EOY, when ppl finally notice the card will be a staple for any black edh deck

The demand for the coat will be streamlined and long lasting. It's only a rare and only edh-oriented, so i'll wait a bit before dipping my toes, it will crash soon then slowly creep up every month, will slurp when it goes to 1.50€ or so.

Completely under the radar cheapie. Can be found in bulk for 40c and yet can accomplish so much, it's a mini-seedborn muse effect, playable in any deck. Imagine Krenko equipped with this, tapping x4 each 4men pod turn. I could have gone for safer bets like Boromir or Call of the Ring, but i'm a gambler who like the potential x10s.

Ok lets be honest here, the cards from the commander set are complete shit, the only 2 i like are The Balrog of Moria for it's cycling cost and Summons of Saruman because i think it's flashback cost is underrated af. And both cards are worth pennies.
The strong point of the set are the big monies reprints, but i fear they tank severely if many LOTR fanboys not usually consooming mtg products inundate the secondary market. But stuff like ancient tomb, shadowspear, reanimate and urborg will always rebound eventually so that's ok.

Let simply say there wont be anything who will gain value from day one, but the decks will certainly retain their value. A zero sum game for you, but big shekels for hasbro, and another stab in the back for private sellers.

with the way this card reads, does the indestructible abiity work if the card is already tapped for other reasons? like if you attacked with it and it dies in combat, can you still discard a card to make it indestrutible since its already tapped and you cant tap it?

I thought about investing some shekels into mtg products mainly graded vintage stuff. Since i like the game i actually want to own some of the cards for my enjoyment, not just as investments.

I did not do this, because i think there is a whole lot of supply in boomer collections, that will come to the market when their children inherit it and severely tank the price/decrease buy pressure.

If we just look at creepy rudy who in his videos casually brings up a binder full of black lotuses for example i would never buy a card that highly priced. Mtg30 also was a bleak fortelling of future things to come

I have some old cards that have value. And although I do enjoy having the collection of cards dating back to 1997, but I am not particularly interested in the game or any of the new cards. I am also a bit out of touch on how popular the game is. It seems like EDH is doing great at getting people to play with more cards and fun for casuals. but I think the power creep is getting out of hand. The cards are all so complex I get fatigued even trying to look at spoilers.
Not all cards are equal, of course. Wotc will reprint anything on the reserved list, and it appears they can just powercreep out anything that used to be good anyway.
