you should start by watching these Videos first so you understand what you are getting into:
https://youtu.be/HiuvsLNCg-Y
https://youtu.be/cEnoZc6sv44

Your next step after watching the videos should be reading the Chainlink and Avalanche whitepapers.
Then you can set up your account at a centralized exchange (kraken or coinbase or whatever) and then set up your own wallets (metamask or core), you write down the private key somewhere secure then you marketbuy and withdraw the AVAX from the CEX to your wallet.
once that is finished you head over to a DEX (Trader Joe) and swap some AVAX into LINK.
now you have AVAX and LINK in your wallet that only (You) control.
if you have enough AVAX you can run your own Validator, if not you can delegate it or get it into DeFi, comes out at around 8% APY on the AVAX.
LINK staking isnt ready yet but will be soon when the Subnet Bullrun kicks in which should start some point this or next year. godspeed bro

I don't think >>55396901 is wrong, but just to phrase advice in the form of some maxims that may be helpful to newfags:

>real projects that change the world are the ones that make the most millionaires.
there are exceptions to this, a la shib and pepe and what nots, but even these shitcoins print money for a few people and many get recked by fomoing in and getting dumped on. yes, it's possible to make money in shitcoins, no, it's not easy.
>if it sounds too good to be true, it is.
5000% apr farms will dilute the value of your holdings faster than your apr pays out. telegram and twitter promises to double your investment tomorrow don't pay out. avoid. maybe related:
>crypto is still new territory, and not well-regulated. I like that, but it means i've been burned by exchanges that have been hacked (cointopia or whatever the new zealand exchange was lol), scams, and false promises by developers. it comes with the territory.
>be aggressive with your allocations.
this might be contrary to the couple previous items which sound risk-averse, but once you pick a winner, buy big. too many newfags putting $100 into a shitcoin and hoping they'll be millionaires. put away as big a percentage of your paycheck as you can.
>don't use leverage.
just don't lol you'll lose. Yes, some people make a lot of money on shit coins, and yes some people do w leverage and they end up on the front page of redd*t or whatever, but they're the exception to rule: leverage is a tool to make exchanges money, not you.
>touch grass.
it doesn't matter if you want to get really into the different rabbit holes and industries within crypto or if you just want to tuck money away into a high-risk asset class and walk away, walk away sometimes. read a book that's not related to finance, go for a walk in the sun, and smile at strangers. it's real easy to get caught up emotionally in price changes when you see your net worth fluctuating 30% in a day. stay grounded.
