Friendly reminder that for almost 200 years America never had major issues with inflation until the FED was created.
At 4%, you and your kin will NEVER be able to create generational wealth.
At 4% you will have to work twice as hard and as long to make the same amount of money previously.
I know this term has been said to death but it is akin to modern day slavery.

Merger arb. The arb exists because one bidder wants a partial buyout which would fuck the public shareholders since they'd be abandoned.
Pretty obvious it's going to the Qatari dude though. Full buyout so public holders get paid - avoids future litigation risk and its simply the better offer on valuation. Can't beat oil money.
Tight timeline since their season ended. Anyway, if the recent news is accurate the entry window may be over already.

Also, remember to do your quarterly taxes everyone. Just 3 days left.

I've done well the last several months in the stock market, and turned my portfolio from ~$8,600CAD to ~$31,000CAD. I made a majority of it shorting the large Canadian banks, and buying OTM calls in a few uranium mining companies.
Do you think I deserve to buy some Moncler boots, or a nice Burberry sweater? I was thinking of spending a mximum of $1,600CAD. Is this reasonable, or should I just continue to add to my long term holds?

I've got a $5k bet that CPI comes in hotter than expected tomorrow. Market is forecasting 3.9%, which doesn't comport with the general stickiness of inflation and current heat of the job market. Oil prices seem to be the main forecast driver, but those are manipulated to fuck by OPEC anyway. Even if I'm wrong, I'm doubling down on Powell raising or indicating future raises on Wednesday. Market is way, way too exuberant over zero news.

Prove me wrong.

Prices will never go back to the covid/pre-covid cheap ever again. The sheep consumer has gotten used to things being fucked. You'll never get two sausage biscuits w/coffee for just 3.18 from mcd's in your lifetime again in other words. A 20oz bottle soda used to be 1.00, then it was jacked to 1.25. Now it's over 2.00. Meanwhile a 2 litter costs over 2.00. Yet despite the fact buying that 2 litter would get you way more drink for roughly the same money the sheep still down the 20oz like crack.

All things can't be really priced in, when they lead to a drop/reaction. DAX clearly dropped on weak US ISM services data. Or on weak China data, it should supress the stocks consequently, but it doesn't. They act as if the problem just went away.

The entire fiat grift rests on debasement outpacing wage growth, such that real wages fall while assets inflate, wages have been rising around 5%/yr, hence Fed will keep real inflation above 5% to fuck over workers. Friday EU completely ignored US. Which is why they caught me offguard yesterday, because EU suddenly pumped delayed, which I didn't expect considering all bad data for EU (china, recession, inflation, US ISM).

Bank crashes were clearly bullish, I was cheering, it meant the pivot was closer and closer, after all rate hikes weren't meant to lower inflation, but to crash banks and consolidate mega banks power.

Now you may expect a blow off top, kind of move and then the great depression.
Enjoy anon and don't get caught by the sentiment and fake data this time, all that matter is the chart.

It's not schizo, it's literally what happened.
How is hiking rates lowering inflation if inflation was caused by the 0% reserve requirements?
Also by pure coincidence after the 0% we get the steepest hiking rate in history, right about at the time banks are the most susceptible to being rekt by them with no reserves and with heavy low yielding treasury bags.

Schizo? No it's common sense, common sense is a much better tool than most of the fake official data out there.

Because they don't intend to crash the dollar as a reserve currency or crash the US government, which they were closer to doing than ever for both.
Also rates right now related to the debt are crazy high, that's why people comparing the 10% rates of decades ago are either not very smart or I'm bad faith.
6% to service the current debt is an ungodly amount.

Yeah, I was thinking about this earlier
The effective point of inflation seems to be that you can never just hold money. You MUST either work for more wealth, lend it out at interest, or invest it into productive assets.
Unlike most of you work avoiding NEETS I am of the opinion that this is a GOOD thing. The people holding crypto want to accumulate wealth and then stop working forever, effectively being parasites profiting from eternally deflating currency (scarcity due to hoarding and gdp expansion causes deflation of such a currency)
I tend to think that it's good that the gubment whips peoples' ass into working and taking risk by investing. However, the way inflation is currently set up is as a scheme benefiting Wall Street Bankers
