I've used Layer Zero to bridge and this is how it works with that.
I've read that they use link oracles as well.
It can be pretty expensive bridging back to eth.
I was hoping to be able to use LINK for fees in some sort of predicable manner but I guess I understand that it's easier to price things in the base currency or whatever.
